Driving From New York Honeymoon

Risa, on June 15, 2020 at 4:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hi All,

Our original wedding date was 5/24/2020 and we postponed to 10/18/2020 with really just hopes of his family being able to fly to us. Our honeymoon was booked for Hawaii for the end of June. Obviously that's been put on hold. We're looking for a small getaway that will still be special and romantic but driving distance that we can do shortly after whatever type of wedding we end up having. We are in Manhattan and looking upstate, PA, CT, MA, or LI. Drivable would be great.

The finger lakes region of New York is really beautiful...might check some things out there! Just stay out of Buffalo (in my opinion LOL)

The Poconos in PA is really pretty. You can also check out the Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, NJ. I went to a wedding there recently, and it's gorgeous.

Following! We are also looking for something driving distance from PA. We were thinking about Nova Scotia (doing a road trip) or somewhere up in Maine.

The Catskills are old school, but gorgeous. DH and I went up to Cooperstown a few years ago. It isn't all just the Baseball Hall of Fame - they've got a lot of breweries, a living 18th century farm, lakes, old railroads... all kinds of beautiful mountains... we want to go again, actually, because there's quite a lot to do!

Oh I love Cooperstown! I haven't been there since I was little. Definitely a good idea. My fiancé is from the West Coast so there are so many options of places he's never been!

I was thinking Maine but thought that may be a longer drive for us! If you find something worth the drive add it to the discussion, please! :-)

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in Maine is definitely worth the drive. Cute little town and amazing views. (About 6 hour drive from CT.) Especially in October during peak leaf season!

We're headed to the smokey mountains in Tennessee soon just for fun but its a 12 hour drive from CT. (we have a frenchie so we try to avoid flying with him.)

Lake George in upstate NY is also super cute. Lots to do and you can rent a boat and cruise around the lake.

If you're beach people the Cape would be super fun too. Lots to do, nice beaches and awesome seafood. You can stay at a really cute B&B too! (Or Block Island, Martha's vineyard, Newport RI are good beach destinations also.)

Fiance and I travel a lot so if you have any questions or need more idea I'd be happy to help!
