Drink requests included with dinner options

On the reply card? That is odd. What if someone wants a mix?

You can survey your VIP guests over a text. But just err on the side of too much and return any unopened leftovers

I can't imagine that would actually get you useful data. And also by asking that, you are kind of setting your guests up for a less than welcoming experience (making them think you are going to nickel and dime everything). It's far better to ask your bartender/venue/caterer for advice (since they do this all the time) and/or use one of the online drink calculators available.

I think it would be better to get an estimate of how much alcohol over all that you need for your guests.


Including a drink request seems like a guest will have to stick to just the drink they replied with. Plus is your trying to save money you would be better off with a few types of wine, spirits, and beer instead of trying to have a fully stocked bar.

I like the idea of inquiring of your guests as to what they like to drink so you are getting stuff that will actually be consumed, but I think you should do it outside of the RSVP card. Maybe text or email a bunch of the people you know like to drink and get some suggestions?
