Drink cost on consumption?

Stacie, on October 8, 2017 at 6:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hey ladies! My current favorite venue only offers drink packages based on consumption. For those who have done the same, can you tell me how many guests you had and what the final beverage cost was? Thanks in advance!

Mine was approximately $800 (after tax and service fees) for 80 people in the Denver area, but mine was a morning wedding so probably a bit lower than most people.

My venue does it that way too. Honestly it's better so you don't pay for people who won't be drinking.

When I was consulting with my venue manager, she said for 170-200 guests $2000 would be good enough. Keep in mind we're only providing beer and wine. If you want to include cocktail drinks, you might need more than that.

Many people will drink more at weddings than at other times. It may be they want to celebrate, maybe because it is free to them.

@MelissaHH I'm only doing beer and wine so about $6-8 per drink.

@MelisaHH we can always put more money if that's not enough. Our dinner also comes with a glass of wine for everyone and champagne for toasting.

Venues we looked at gave an average of $1200, I have a feeling we will pay way less than that. We will have about 75 people and about 20 that will not be drinking! Plus they will have mimosas/bloody Marys during brunch, which is included during cocktail hour/brunch.

We had 115 guests. Full open bar. Wedding was from 5pm-Midnight. Including gratuity, it was just under $5000. I will say our venue had expensive drinks and that was both alcohol and non alcoholic drinks.

The wedding I was in last year, the couple spent 900 for 110 guests, in which maybe 80 drank.
