I'll perfer my own unique dress to be made. Only negative I see is money lol...or if it's not made how u requested. Store brought you get what you see or maybe you maynot like what your seeing. Honeslty if u are planning adhead of time i don't see why getting a dress made wouldnt be 1st preference and if you can afford it why not.

I went to have a custom dress made. I always 100% convinced. When I met with the seamstress she urged me to go and try on some dresses before we started making it. Once I started trying on dresses I realized that what I was so sure I wanted, was not actually working well on my body type. I tried one that I would have never imagined, and really liked it. I sent a picture to my seamstress and she seemed to to think she could not duplicate the fabric (which was one aspect I loved, I still have not seen a fabric quite like what was on this dress) I continued to try on more dresses at a couple other places. I quickly realized that I didn’t need a custom dress. And anything I didn’t like or want added could be done by my lady. The was no real cost difference she quoted me 2-2500 and my dress was 2250 without alterations. However, the dress I bought was a dress I couldn’t find in any stores. I had my bridal store order it as a “loaner dress” to try. Once I found the designer I liked, and what shapes worked on me, I was able to hand pick it online and when I put it on I fell in love.

I’m all for unique custom items. Make sure you try on many dress style and lengths to determine what you like, if you can’t find what you love, then bring all of those ideas to a seamstress/dress maker to create your perfect dress.

I had my dress made. I went and tried on dresses and none were something I really wanted. I am definitely not a traditional bride. I absolutely love mine.

Store bought! It’s just too scary to *hope* someone gets my vision and it fits right. I had customizations made to both of my designer wedding dresses (I had a DW and a local reception three mo the later). Way easier and cheaper to start with a dress I really liked and tailored it to make it perfect.

I like the idea of a unique dress but I’d have to see the cost of that

I think you need to go try on dresses to get a feel for what you like, and then if you can't find what you like/want in a store, you can get it made. But if you find one in store that's exactly what you want, just do that and save the money.
