Dresses from Jj’s House??

Laree's, on August 7, 2019 at 12:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Let me start out by saying, I haven’t even tried on one wedding dress yet so I don’t know for sure what style would look best on me. However, I found my dream dress, in my price range, online at jjshouse.com Has anyone boughten a dress from them. They seem to have great pricing on bridesmaids dresses as well. I did order some swatches and it seems like the material is nice but it’s also just a tiny square of fabric...

I did. It worked out great for me, but, a couple of caveats:
    - I wasn’t looking for my “dream dress”. This was a second wedding and we were going simple as far as attire & decor. I chose a simple, satin knee length dress, so it was not elaborate. Still, I thought the materials and workmanship were GREAT for the price, so much so that I then ordered a satin bolero jacket to go with....also was very happy with it.

    - I went with custom measurements and they did a great job. This added a bit of time getting it to me, but I also chose the expedited shipping which was well worth it in my opinion. I chose standard shipping for the jacket and I feel like that took a long time.
-As an older person, I have the experience to know exactly which styles look good on me and which don’t. This is really really important. Go to an in person store and try things on to get a better sense of that if you don’t already know.
-Any online purchase comes with risk. This is no different. I would say, don’t do it if you don’t have the time & money to go to Plan B if it doesn’t work out. That may sound silly to some, but I could have afforded pretty much any dress I wanted, I just chose not to spend a lot. For me, it was worth the risk as there are few things I loathe more than shopping, so if I could save myself the hassle by risking $150 or so, I’d do it. And again, it worked out great in my case, but that’s just me. Read the reviews for any dress you’re considering, as many post pics, so you can see what the dress looks like on an actual person. Good luck!

I haven't bought anything from them, but my mother-in-law was looking at dresses on their site and I looked at reviews before she purchased. Based on everything I read, the dresses are made in China and they use an image they found and try to make a dress that looks similar. There are a ton of bad reviews for JJHouse so I would recommend not ordering from there. My mother-in-law chose not to after I told her what the reviews said.

There are quite a few reviews on Youtube of JJs house and it seems legit ( Youtuber prettypastelplease has a good one). I found a dress I LOVED on there but just couldn't bring myself to purchase it. I actually did place an order for the dress as they were having a sale but then I freaked out and canceled the order lol (and yes i actually did get my money back some people think they are scammy and don't actually offer returns but they do). Their customer service is fantastic. I say go for it but try a regular size - not custom sizing- just to see the quality and if you like the dress. That way if you like it, Great, and you can return and get custom sizing if you wish. If you don't like it, well then you know!

Again, I can only relay my personal experience, but in fairness, I feel like I should also respond to that last post because some people repeat things fairly frequently that they read here and elsewhere without really having first hand knowledge.

Yes, the dresses are made in China. Do you realize how many things in your home are made in China? Are you reading this on any kind of electronics? Guess what? Yep. Do you realize how relatively few things are actually manufactured in the US? Has JJs House gotten bad reviews? Of course. Do a search at the top of the page you’re on now for them and you will find all sorts of posts, some with good reviews, some bad. Look at JJs House’s site and you’ll see the same thing. Look at Amazon and you’ll see the same thing for everything else you’re buying. Folks love to repeat here that they use stolen images and are a scam. I have no idea if they use stolen images. They did not advertise my dress as being any particular designer’s (nor did I care if it was), a reverse image of it shows it coming from there, and quite frankly with intellectual property matters being as complicated as they are, we really have no idea if the particular image was still protected under trademark or copyright laws, whether they received it under a licensing deal, or, or, or. There are so many variables. What we do know is that they continue to be in business, openly, and available for anyone to sue or have shut down if they are doing all of the horrible things people here repeat. Until they are, I have to presume they are above board. If you look far back enough, you will find infringement cases against lots of retailers, some of them loved by many here.

Again, I’m not trying to sway anybody, I just feel like I need to caution against putting too much stock on things you read on a chat board, including this one (much as I LOVE this one, and all of you ladies), without independent personal knowledge. Stepping off soapbox....

I’m pretty sure the style would look good on me but I agree with you and plan on going to a few shops first. If I do decide to buy it, I will buy it regular sizing so that it is returnable. Thanks for your input!!

Thanks, I’ve read some of those too. On the flip side I’ve read a lot of good reviews that included pictures of them wearing them, so idk...

Agreed. I’m an avid online shopper and you are right when it comes to reviews. They are always going to have good and bad reviews. I tend to look for patterns, are all the bad reviews about fabric for instance. A lot of the times bad reviews are just user error. Haha thank you for your advice.

I bought my prom dress from JJs House in 2014. It was gorgeous but I had to get it tailored locally for the right fit (which is to be expected but good to note.) I do remember that it took a month to come in.

I have no idea why jjs house has bad reviews. The most complaints I see are for shipping price and speed. But the speed is based on the item. Finak Sale dresses arrive fast, regular dresses take longer but they do state that they start sewing the dress once the order is placed. I'm sure it's a type of kit so it takes a couple weeks but I just placed 2 orders 1 were final sale items the other order were regular priced. The shipping was more than usual but when you consider the low cost of the dress it's well worth it. I bought the 10 dollar coupon package because I buy a lot if dresses so now I get a bunch of coupons that cover shipping and more. And I'm vip3 so I get even more off. The quality is actually amazing and the fit is nearly perfect. I choose size 10 for all of the dresses and only 2 need very small alterations. Every dress has high quality material, looks exactly like the pictures and are lightweight. I absolutely love their products anDresses from Jj’s House?? 3
