Do bring a good bra slip, and slipper socks or thick socks to try the dress on with. Do not let them say, wait til your first fitting. Once you walk out the door it is assumed you accepted the dress as is, and you would be amazed at some of the damage some will not notice. Most common, a major area of one place with too much dye or too little, streaked appearance, that you will never notice if not on. You do not want that dress to sit 4 weeks before dealing with it, and them refusing a refund. Wrong things sewn together, facings mixed, a shiny satin or brushed velvet with most of the dress cut in one direction top the bottom, and a few upside down. Not fixable. One side or top half of the dress and bottom cut different sizes is another. You want to have other dresses around to show no, your boobs have not grown 4 inches, a size 4 bodice was sewn to a size 8 skirt. Now is your chance. A sock of a very different color makes it easy if all it will need is hemming, and they mark it. Even if you go with pantyhose and heels to see the dress , which is fun, bring a pair of contrast color socks, or ballet flats.
You want to walk out with a perfect dress, and some sense how it really will look, which means nice fitting bra, slip, shapewear. Shops always have petticoats. It is really a thrill when you put it on, look in the mirror, and say MINE!
