Dress: to poof, or not to poof?

Sylvia, on April 23, 2021 at 10:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
Hi all!
So I’m back yet again questioning my dress and whether it looks perfect yet.
I have an a-line dress. I’m 4’11, so I always knew any sort of poof on a dress will be pretty poofy. However, I’m not sure if this is just right or if it looks too poofy for me. Honestly, I think it is in my head since I know I’m so short. Everyone else says it’s perfect. What do you all think? Should I add more volume? Take away some? Or leave as is?Everything else about this dress is perfection and I so can’t wait for FH to see me. This poofiness is the only thing I’m sort of stuck on still. Thoughts!? For reference; here was my dress prior to alterations taking out some of the crinoline!

Thank you so much! ☺️☺️ Glad the poof is good! I posted a comment with my dress before alternations when it had slight more poof for reference 😬

Oohhhh I love both ways!! But I think I like it better the way it is now then before alterations (and I don’t say that often)

Oh okay! Yay! 🥰 great to hear! I can’t wait to see what some others say. I really think it’s just in my head, since I know I’m so short and petite. 🤣

I love it ❤❤ I think once you tighten the sleeves up and sinch the waist. I think it will make the bottom get poofy and will shape you better.

I think the altered version is best, but you can never have too much poof either way as far as I'm concerned! As long as you're comfortable in it, that's all that matters.

I agree with my fellow ladies on this. I think having some poof is good. The alterations definitely seem to have made it fit your figure better. Can I just say I am in love with the sleeves on that dress. I think they are so pretty!

I want to be supportive, but want to be honest. I am only an inch taller than you, and I do think this dress is a little too poofy. However, maybe after you put heels on, it will look better?

Thanks! It’s already pretty fitted after alternations so it’s all good. Alternations seem to help for sure

Thanks for the honesty! Probably can come off looking too poofy for sure with my stature. Definitely prefer this over mermaid though haha

You look beautiful! Leave it as is! I’m also 4”11 and just has my wedding in my A Line
ballgown and got so many compliments! You can be petite and still rock a ballgown! I attached a pic for you of me in my dress. Dress: to poof, or not to poof? 7
