Dress Time

Stacey, on December 20, 2019 at 11:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
I have decided to have my bridesmaids get their dresses from Azazie, but none of them can agree on a dress as I had wanted everyone in the same style. So now I am thinking of picking out my top 10 favorite dresses and telling them to pick from that. It still gives them options, but it allows me to pick dresses I also like. Part of the reason I don't want to let them all just pick whatever style they want is because I am nervous about what the groomswoman would select. She tends to wear very revealing clothing so my fiance and I would be concerned that she would pick something extremely long cut with a super high slit if we let her decide. I feel 10 different styles to pick from is enough, but maybe I am making this too complicated. Any input?

I think that’s more than fair. They should all be able to find something with 10 choices.

I did the same thing. Each girl picked the dress that they liked best. I only have 3 girls in my bridal party so I only gave them 8 options to pick from.

I have my heart set on my MOH and BM wearing the same dress as well. However, I am worried about finding a dress they will like/feel comfortable in. I talked to my MOH about it, and she told me it was my wedding so they should wear whatever I want them to, LOL.

However, I feel what you are doing is fair. 10 definitely should be enough to choose from!

I agree with others and think this is a fair way of doing it! You get to make your choice of dress selections but the bridesmaids ultimately get to pick what they would feel most comfortable in!

This seems like a great idea! I had thought about asking them to pick their top 3 (or so) choices and then I'd select one from those but this is another good approach!

I would narrow it down to fewer than 10. That just seems like an overwhelming number. We narrowed it down to 3, but 1 got discontinued so it became 2.

How many bridesmaids/female wedding party members do you have?
Is the idea to give them 10 options and then have them vote on which option they like best, or allow each individual woman to pick their own dress from those 10 options, even if everyone ends up in a different style?
You can also let them pick a style but run it by you for approval first.
I personally hate when brides try to force all of their girls into the same style dress, but understand wanting everything to look cohesive. I think giving them options sounds like a great idea, and 10 options is more than enough to choose from.

We used Azazie. I went on and created a showroom with a huge number of styles that I liked and had good reviews, gave a color stipulation, and let them pick from there. It worked out well

I have 4 bridesmaids and 1 groomswoman so a total of 5 women. We want the groomswoman in the same color as the bridesmaids. I created a showroom on Azazie of 10 dresses that I liked the best and I was going to let each girl pick the dress they liked the best. We already went to David's Bridal and none of them could agree. I was going to do this versus letting them choose from all of the dresses because I wanted to make sure I like the dress they end up picking rather than picking something I hate or don't think it appropriate. I thought it would be easier to do it this way rather than having them check with me for their approval. Knowing the groomswoman I would ask her to check with me first and she wouldn't.

I was thinking 10 because we already went shopping at David's Bridal and none of them could agree on anything. A few of them hated strapless, another liked strapless, and one seemed to just hate everything.

That sounds like a great plan then! I think 10 dress options with some variety should allow everyone to find something they are comfortable in.

The only other thing worth considering is if you care about an even mix of dresses. For example, would you be comfortable if 4 of them chose the same dress and only one was different and stood out, especially if that one person wasn't your MOH or the groomswoman? If it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it, but if you want to make sure there is an even mix or that the dresses all flow together well, you might still want the 5 women relay their choices to you for final approval, even if they are limited to the 10 options you gave them.

That’s what I did, and Azazie made it so easy. I wanted to give everyone a choice so I picked a variety of strapless, halter, vneck, etc options. But I chose ones that coordinated and fit my wedding. It ended up great - no two girls wore the same dress, but they looked like a cohesive group. Also Azazie in general was so easy to work with - they had so many colors and styles, even for the bridesmaid who was 5 months pregnant with twins.

I don't think that will happen. They all have very different tastes. I had wanted everyone to wear the same dress. That doesn't seem like it is going to happen. We came close to an agreement on two different options. The first option my maid of honor refused to wear because she hates strapless dresses because she is extremely flat chested. My sister also didn't like option one because she felt it wasn't flattering and she doesn't like strapless dresses either. The second option my maid of honor didn't like because there was too much fabric in the boobs since she is so flat chested. The second option also didn't come in the color I had really wanted, but I was willing to go with a different color, but not everyone was happy. Dress Time 1

I picked 5 dresses on Azazie and let my girls pick!! 10 is WAY more and completely reasonable.
