Dress thoughts? Advice?

I found a dress at a thrift store, and I mostly love it, however it has a thick satin like material under the lace of the skirt and I don’t like the way it falls at all because of that. I think maybe cutting the satin out could change the way the skirt drops, or possibly adding a slit to it? Has anyone done something like this? Is it even possible? I love the plunge and the lace and the sleeves, just not the drop…. I wish it fell more organically. Dress thoughts? Advice? 1

Check with a seamstress. It appears that the lace pattern continues from the bodice to the skirt and any significant change of the lining depends on how the layers are connected. I think the seamstress tends to separate parts of the dress and then reconnect the parts.

I'm not sure a slit for the leg would work on the lace layer because of the lace pattern. But really, the dress looks wonderful in the picture and may not really need the changes you are thinking of.

I feel like that is a lot of work, and could be very costly. It's up to you. I might see if I could find a dress that falls in a style you like more with lace and a plunge. It might be the easier route.
