Dress tape?

IDCuckoo, on October 2, 2018 at 8:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Does anyone have experience with using dress tape? My dress won't allow me to wear a bra. I tried a stick-on bra, but I'm not confident it will stay on all night. My alterations person suggested dress tape. Has anyone used it for breast support? I'm a D cup, btw...

I read that celebrities use it all the time. That's how they can look half naked but still keep the sisters 'covered'.

My understanding is that there are two different interpretations/products that might answer your question. The first is that "dress tape" is like double-sided tape (kind of like scotch tape) that goes between the backside of the dress fabric and your skin to hold the dress in place (you can buy it at Target). It does not provide ANY support to the "girls" or any other body part, it just helps prevent accidental "flashing." The second interpretation is using a heavy duty tape -- like physio tape (available at sporting goods stores) or I read a post about using gaffer's tape (which you can buy at Home Depot?) to literally tape your girls into position on your body -- in place of a bra. The most specific instructions we've found are here: https://apracticalwedding.com/kim-kardashian-boob-tape-bra-trick/ . Daughter is a DD, with a dress that, so far, we haven't been able to find a bra option for. She's tried low-back long-lines and various stick on options. Her dress is pretty structured, but she'd like a little bit of lift -- without ending up looking like a St. Pauli's Girl with excessive cleavage.... So far, we haven't found the right option, but her first fitting is in about 10 days. The plan is to take the options we have and see what the alterations woman suggests. If it's taping, she'll have to experiment so she can test how it works well before the big day! Good luck!

    Hey there, IDCuckoo,

Great advice by MOB So Cal!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. I agree that you should try to experiment on what works best for you, your dress, and feels most comfortable!

I've used a stick-on bra a couple of times and haven't had it fail me! You could also test it out and wear it for a day (and try to move around a lot and dance with it on to simulate what you'd be doing at your wedding)!
