Hi all,
My wedding is Aug. 13, and my dress is currently with the seamstress for its second round of alterations (I don't see it again until July 3). I love this dress, but it's still not quite right. I don't want to be a "sexy" bride, I want to be elegant and graceful. But when I show people photos of my dress, the first thing they always say is "Va va voom, look at those BOOBS!" Or "Wow, so SEXY!" I don't know why I didn't realize this when I first bought the dress — probably party because my mom loved it so much, and because I didn't take enough pictures that day. The cleavage and structured top also makes me look bigger than I am in general (I'm 5'2", 120 lbs, 34D). I already added the extra petal fabric to cover the deep V so you wouldn't see the underside of my breasts. I'm wondering if they could remove the push-up cups and replace them with something flatter? (which will cost extra because in earlier rounds of alterations they sewed the cups more securely into the dress. And honestly, at this point I don't know if there's time to make a change like that). I never, ever wear push-up bras. Also, in altering the dress to make it fit my shorter frame (I'm 5'2"), they hiked the straps up and I'm feeling like it's now pinching my armpits and causing that armpit/side boob squeeze. They said after the next round of alterations that may resolve itself (since it was also pinned right at the armpit at the time), but if it's still an issue they can do another fix. I'm just worried that if I have more changes after the July 3 appointment, I'm kind of running out of time... Also: I'm having a hard time knowing how I feel about the dress and what alterations I want during the moment of the fitting — it becomes more clear once I have time to really look at photos after the appointment, which has left me feeling insecure after each visit. They just move so fast and seem to tell you exactly what you need to have done, and I just go with it and then end up dwelling on it later. Anyone else? Thank you for any advice/commiserating!
