Dress steaming in Las Vegas

Ashley, on August 13, 2018 at 8:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 19

Hi everyone, I'm flying into Las Vegas on 11/29 in the evening and getting married 12/02, and I'm needing somewhere I could get my dress steamed with a quick turnaround! I have a friend that lives in Vegas that I may be able to ship my dress out early to her if I can't find a place to steam it in time, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Also, do the hotels let you ship it to them early and hold onto it for a couple days? We're staying at one of the remodeled suites in the Luxor and I have family staying at the Delano.

Thank you in advance!

Call the hotel and ask about shipping/storing the dress. You could also ask about steaming. I'm sure the Luxor would either steam or make arrangements for a service to steam the dress.

I would call the hotel and see if they would be able to steam it for you.
I would not ship it. What if it get lost or damaged?

Why not fly with it? I flew with my dress to Mexico. It was my carry on item.

You weren't worried about squishing it so much? Mine is a huge ballgown, I'd be nervous to stuff it into something small enough to count as a carry on, but maybe I should look into it. Any tips?

My dress was not very big and I was able to fold it to fit into a carry on sized suitcase. With a ballgown it will be more difficult. Maybe put it in whatever box you were going to ship it in and check it with your luggage on the plane? Then it will at least be on the flight with you. If you are going to ship it, I would send it to the friend instead of the hotel. I would trust the friend more. And make sure to send it early enough to account for possible delays, get it insured and make sure you can track it.

Contact your airline and ask them for recommendations on what to put it in. Many airlines have closets they can hang things in. We are flying Spirit to Vegas Oct 24th and they don't have closets but I purchased a carry on and they will put my garment bag on top of the carry ons but I am guaranteed room since I did purchase it. I was going to ship mine to FMIL since she lives near Vegas but I'm waaaaay too paranoid since I've had 2 things I've shipped recently just magically disappear.

So we are getting married at Mandalay Bay and can ship stuff out for them to hold for up to a month prior.

I also asked about steaming and they recommended this place they will do it same day and pick up/ drop off at the hotel:

Thank you so much! I’ll save this place, what a relief. I’m glad you did your research! Do you know if they could do a veil, too?

Call the hotels to find out if you can ship things to them early. Personally I would feel better shipping the dress to my friend then to the hotel.

They were fantastic!!! It was super easy they were able to steam my dress and veil, my mom's dress and H's suit all I had to do was drop it off at the bell hop and they brought it back and called me when it was at the bell hop. SO EASY!!! And they were super nice too (bonus!)

I bought a portable steamer for like $25 on Amazon that i plan on having on site for my wedding. Granted, mine is local, but it will b e nice to have for touch up my dress or the girls bridesmaid dresses. You may wanna consider that option too!

Yes!! We have one on our registry but I think I’ll take it off and buy it ourselves, that’s a great idea.

When one of my friends got married in Napa, she flew with her dress and packed a portable steamer in her suitcase. It wasn't expensive to buy one (and they are nice to have). I steamed my own dress with it too and it is easy to do. That could be an option for you if you have a hard time finding a place to steam it or it ends being more than you want to pay.
