Dress Sizing Anxiety!

Greta, on February 27, 2020 at 2:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I picked up my dress on Monday and when I tried it on I couldn’t get it over my hips! All of my measurements were a size in difference so I ordered the size in the middle per their recommendation. There’s an inch on both sides to alter it, but I’m still worried it will be too tight.

I would just suggest talk to a seamstress and see what they can do but if you are that concerned and you have time why don't you ask if they can exchange the dress for a larger size?

My designer who does alterations is in Mexico for her own wedding and I’m waiting for her return. The bridal shop does not accept any type of exchanges. This is typical for most bridal boutiques.

Yes, but if they told you to get the middle size, they should really take responsibility. It's not like you just suddenly decided you didn't like the dress.

Ahhhh....yeah I bought from David's bridal so it is different. I do not mean to be rude but just in case is there a way to shed a few lbs so it fits well?

It’s not rude, I do work out twice a week and I’m in good shape, which is actually the reason it won’t fit! My butt and thighs have too much muscle... which is where it won’t budge. 😂However, I am just being more health conscious before the wedding to be really toned. I think that letting out the 2 inches of fabric will work, but I am worried about it in general.

Ahhhhh okay I understand that lol. I already have hips and butt but yeah I am upping the strength for toning and I am hoping it does not make me bigger ha ha. Dieting majorly sucks too. Hmmmm I know a seamstress can let it out a bit. I would inquire about it as maybe it will not be too much to let it out. Great gains on your body at the gym though! Smiley smile

Do you think you could use some sort of compression shapewear? Does it zip and you couldn't pull it up unzipped?
