Dress Size

Lynne, on February 11, 2022 at 12:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
My current street size is a 22 (I seem to lose a size every 2-3 months), which makes me happy. My dress was ordered in my current street size. How many street sizes should I drop to fit my dress?

Tried on a size 16, it fit just couldn't zip the back. I'm not stressing...yet. Just curious

I think this is going to be dependent on the type of your dress. I lost 12 pounds and my dress still fit, but it has a bit of an adjustable back. If it is lace up vs button, etc that could change how much you would need to lose.

I'm confused. If your dress was ordered in your current street size, then shouldn't it already fit? Also, keep in mind that as you continue to lose weight, it will actually start to take longer to lose weight and you will not be dropping sizes as quickly.

The dress only has a zipper and a deep "V" back. I do want to add a little extra fabric to hide part of my back.

They didn't have a size 22 for me to try on. The dress tends to run a little small.

I agree that it mostly depends on the dress and your body. Some dresses have a bit more give in them, and everyone loses weight differently. I think dress sizes run around 2 sizes small compared to street sizes. If you're already planning on having the back altered it shouldn't be hard for your seamstress to take it in or out depending on where you're at at that time.

If your dress was ordered in your current size I would just wait for it to arrive and make any necessary alterations at the point. There’s really no point worrying about it now, and no way to anticipate how it will fit until you have it on.
