Dress Shopping

Amber, on October 11, 2019 at 12:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I've pictured my wedding dress what seems for all my life. I can't wait for the day I actually go shopping for it! Should I keep an open mind or should I stick to my dream dress?

Definitely go in with an open mind. I feel like I've seen way more brides on here who went with a dress that was the opposite of their vision than brides who got the dress they've always dreamed of. I had a clear list of criteria that I thought I wanted, but ended up with something completely different. That's not to say that you shouldn't try your dream dress on, but try on others as well.

Try on every dress you can! Like every style, fabric, length, color, neckline, train, etc. just so you know what you want. I really thought I wanted a ballgown but ended up with more of a mermaid fit. I also thought I wanted bling but ended up with lace. I probably tried on 60 dresses total and I'm so happy I did before deciding!

    Thank you!

I've always wanted a ball gown as well but I've stayed away from lace lol

Definitely go in with an open mind! I had pictured myself in a ballgown with lots of detail. However, I went with a very simple design because it felt more "me". You might find out the one is the polar opposite of what you had imagined yourself in!

Definitely open mind.. I went in David’s bridal thinking I was going to get this pretty a-line dress that I had on my mind for a long time I ended up with something complete opposite that I had no idea that I would love.. and try on a lot of different styles.

Open mind for sure! I had a lot of dresses saved online that I loved before I went to DB and tried them all on and didn't like ANY of them! I even tried on a dress with a silhouette I never considered wearing and while I didn't choose it, I was really happy with the way it looked on my body! I will say that if you're hesitant on buying a certain dress, walk away and let yourself think on it first. SO many brides (including myself) have dress regret and a lot of stores don't accept returns. So take your time and find something you love! Good luck!

Open mind! I almost didn't ask to try on my dress - she mentioned it in passing, and I was so deadset on ball gowns. Not to mention that it was, according to her, the biggest one they had! I was all set for a more fitted look, but at the last minute I asked her to grab that one too just to try it on so I could know it wouldn't work. It was the first one we tried on, and I was sitting there stunned that I loved this big poofy organza ruffle ballgown! It's nothing like what I thought, but I can't picture anything else now. Go in and try things on- worst case you be like me and realize fit and flare was a horrible decision for your figure.

All my life I knew I would be in a huge princess ballgown and when went dress shopping I absolutely hated the princess dress on me. Surprising I bought a trumpet/ mermaid dress with a beautiful long train 💕 I say keep an open mind

Definitely keep an open mind! I swear, every single one of my friends that is married has said they ended up choosing a dress they never thought they would!! Although you may see a dress and think that’s the one, it is so different when you try them on! Try all of the styles on!

Go in with an open mind! I always thought I would end up with a lace fit and flair, but what I ended up with was a dressed covered in crystal and sheath fit! Its also fun to see what others have always pictured you in as well!
