Dress Shopping

Kaitlyn, on June 28, 2019 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Anyone else having a hard time wrangling their bridesmaids for dress shopping? I have 6 total, but only 3 are local (my MOH/best friend, her cousin, and my cousin). I've already had my cousin cancel on my first appointment (she just started an internship so I understand), but my other BM (MOHs cousin) overslept and missed my appointment because she works overnights. And the day before, she flipped out in our group chat because she thought she missed it but was just confused. And then she really did miss it! They both live about 45mins to an hour north of me, and my cousin is about 30 mins south of me at school. I'm making another appointment for next week at a David's Bridal that's north of me so it's closer for 2 of them and I'm going to ask my cousin if she can make it, even though I know it's far for her.

Anyone else having this problem? I didn't think it would be so hard since they're local, but scheduling has been hard since I work a 9-5 office job, and they mostly work on weekends.

EDIT: This is shopping for my dress. They’re going to get to pick their own dresses in a color scheme.

It's hard! I remember scheduling my bachelorette day was super difficult even though 3/4 of my bridesmaids were local.

It’s a lot of work getting everyone in the same place at the same time. All of my bridesmaids with the exception of my two sisters are about 2-3 hours away. We’re having our engagement cookout/mingle so to speak for both sides (my girls and FH’s guys to get acquainted) and we planned it months ahead. However, when I need them to be anywhere or vise versa we always make it work no matter the distance!
What I thought would be easier is using Azazie.com for bridesmaids dresses, they have so many options and colors and you can create a showroom of the dresses you like. Your girls can have them shipped to try on for 10-15 a dress, could possibly work in your favor! Good luck and congrats 🍾

I actually haven’t even touched on their dresses yet, this is just them coming with me to help me pick out my dress. I just recently heard of that site and quite honestly I was just going to pick a color and have them get a dress from David’s bridal since 3 of them are in other states.

They don’t all need to come with you to go wedding dress shopping. Mine didn’t. I would say I’m going on this day and those who can make it great and if you can’t I’ll show you pictures another time if you’re interested. If not you’ll see it on the wedding day!

My sister In law didn’t invite all the bridesmaids for her appointment. She had her two sisters and me with her and the others three just went with it. I think it’s okay if you have accommodating friends. It’s your big day!

It is not necessary for them to come with you to pick out your dress. Just go when it works for your schedule and whoever else can go, great. For my first wedding, I actually preferred shopping alone to narrow my selection down and then I brought my bridesmaid to help me choose. It was a lot less stressful that way. For my current marriage, I custom made my dress so didn't have to worry about this at all!

Dress shopping can be difficult, but not necessary for everyone to be there. When I set up our appointments I told my girls there was no pressure to attend and that it was an open invitation. Two of my girls have kids and one lives over an hour away from me so I knew scheduling was going to be an issue.

We just got lucky with everyone being able to come together. My mom, FMIL, and all of my bridesmaids were able to make it! Smiley laugh MOH and BM#2 were free that morning, BM#3s MIL offered to take her son to the park since it was a nice day out, and BM#4 brought her daughter (also my FG) along.
