Dress shopping

Shaelon, on May 8, 2022 at 11:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
My wedding isn’t for two years so when is a good time to start dress shopping? I have a few dresses in mind that I like but since I’ve never tried on a wedding dress I don’t know what fits my body type and height. Do dress shops do appointments to just try on different types of dresses to find what you like and fits you best without buying that day? tenor.gif

Same!!! I have a very weird body, and on the shorter side. Planning for July 2023 and have no idea where to begin. I messaged a couple of salons and they were very understanding. I don’t think they expect a first time full purchase on appointment one, but not 100% sure. Ahhh this part is the most stressful!

Yes I think this is the part that will stress me out the most because I’m only 5’1 and not very curvy so I’m like ehhhh idk how things will fit 😩

You ladies are good you have time and sometimes our bodies change throughout the years I got my dress in The end of November and my wedding is in July. Schedule an appointment at a bridal shop and tell them what you are looking for and they will try to bring dresses that match your description and if you find it great if not move on to the next shop until you find your dress believe me it’s weird when you find your dress cause it just gives you a sense of relief and pure joy and comfort. You can start whenever just for ideas but I started my alterations in may and still getting fitted until I’m happy with how it feels on me. So don’t worry go enjoy and bring someone who will encourage you and be honest with you. I had my mom go with me. Good luck.

I recommend going 12-14 months before your date. Like everything else these days, there are delays in wedding dresses coming in from overseas. They don’t expect you to buy one on your first visit, but it sure is a bonus when you do.

I would also research what type of bridal store you want to go to. Many go to David’s Bridal, but I was intimidated by its size. I went to a family owned shop in a small town and their prices weren’t anymore expensive, but I was the only one in the store and had her full attention.

You can definitely start just looking now to see what you like. At any bridal shop, there's never a guarantee that someone will buy a dress that day, so you should be able to tell the consultant that you're not sure what you like and just want to get an idea of what direction to go in. If you do find something, then great, but if not then it's not a big deal.
