My first dress appointments are next week! My mom and FMIL are flying in for a long weekend, so I really hope I can find it in one of the shops we plan to go to.

Any suggestions on what to bring? I'm trying to decide the need to wear a strapless bra and/or spanx or just forgo it altogether since I don't know what style I'll get yet or even need it for the dress.

Anything you wish you knew before you walked into salons?

Yes to spanx and strapless bra..you will be changing fast in front of your consultant.
Be open to all styles, it looks different on the hanger than it looks on the body.

Bring shoes similar in heel height to the ones you want to wear. Definitely a strapless bra and spanx if you're uncomfortable changing in front of someone. Most likely the consultant will be in the room with you when you get in and out of the dresses. Also, be sure to move around in the dress, lift your arms, dance a little etc to try and get a better feel of how the dress moves! Good luck!

I just wore light underwear and a strapless bra, but ended up going bra-less for most of the dresses I tried on since that's how I'd be wearing them. I'd look through some basic info on styles of dresses (ballgown vs mermaid, etc) just to have an idea of what you'll be seeing, but also definitely be open to trying on something the consultant suggest. And don't be afraid to tell them you don't like something, and why you don't like it.
