Dress shopping

How far in advance should I buy my dress? Like when is the last possible time that I won’t have to worry about it being in on time?!

It definitely depends on the designer! My dress from David's Bridal came in only about a week after I ordered it in store. Maybe call bridal shops you're interested in and ask how long it usually takes for dresses to come in. You'll also want to ensure time for alterations if they're needed. Overall, the sooner the better. Hope this helped a little!

My dress took 7 months to come in and then needed 6 weeks for alterations. Stores like David’s Bridal has dresses that come in a lot sooner though! So it just depends on where you’re looking.

I ordered mine in February, it just came in last week! So, about 4 months! But again, every designer/store is different. The sooner the better though!

That was one thing I wanted to do ASAP. They told me it would take 6 months but it came in about 6 weeks early. So I held onto my dress for like 3 months before I had to start alterations but I knew I had it!

If you're ordering a dress NOT from David's Bridal, I wouldn't risk less than 6 months before your wedding. Some designers won't even do a rush. If you find a dress you like 8-9 months before your wedding, ask about that designer's shipping estimate and rush shipping options to be safe.

Are you trying to lose weight? The stylist will take your measurements and ask you a few questions about your goals. Only you can answer those, but keep in mind a seamstress can take in a dress up to two sizes...but may only be able to take out an inch or so!
