Dress shopping: Who to Bring

Erika, on October 6, 2019 at 4:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
My best friend is absolutely coming with me to pick my dress, and of course my mom wants to come too. That seems reasonable. But now my fiance's mom and step mom also want to come. They're both very sweet, and all 3 moms get along pretty well, but my fiance's moms don't know my best friend at all or my mom very well. It also just seems like too many cooks in the kitchen, and I'm worried that I'll feel self conscious with that many people, or that at least one will shoot down any dress I like because we all have very different taste.

How many people are you shopping with, or if you already did, how many went? How did it go? Any tips? Anything you regret?

    🤔.

Take them, just to see and narrow down what you like/want.

Have your Best Friend take notes.

Then, go back with just her and your Mom to make your decision.

I shopped solely online and do NOT regret my decision. 👰👗➕Alterations➕Dry Cleaning = maybe 💲4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣⏺0️⃣0️⃣

My Mom wouldn’t have been able to go with me, so I didn’t even think about making an appt.

I had my mom, my FH’s mom, dad, and little sister. It was a good group for me but my sister and dad were kinda lukewarm the entire time, I kinda wish I brought just my mom and FH’s mom since my relationship with them was the best. All my bridesmaids were busy that day too so no one was available!

It was just my mom and I. We found the dress the same day we started looking! I’m taking all my bridesmaids back to the boutique (they don’t know they are bridesmaids yet) and I’m going to ask them there Smiley smile

I didn't take anyone ahah. I think I wanted to just have clarity knowing I would see things I liked.

I’m taking my mom, aunt, and a friend. I considered my future MIL and SIL but they haven’t met my family yet. I decided to take people that know my taste the best.

I love that idea! Then they all get to be part of it, but the actual choice gets made in peace, haha.

I would only take people who's opinions mean the most to you! Having a bunch of people go with you can make the process even more stressful. I only had my parents and FH's mom and grandmother at my appointment

I went with just my mother, that's it. I had 9 bridesmaids and my husband has a mother & stepmother. I didn't want to exclude some & not others and I didn't want to coordinate with that many people. I think one option is to go to several stores (over a few weekends) and invite your fiance's family to one of those weekends. I would bring a water bottle, make sure you are hydrated, and eat before you go.
