Dress shopping undergarments?

Do you need a strapless bra when you try on dresses? Or do most dresses have something built in?

When I went I alternated between wearing a strapless bra and tucking the straps in of my regular bra.

I wore a bra and ended up taking it off halfway through. Some of the ones I tried on had cups some didnt. I could still get a pretty good idea what it would look like either way

I think it really depends on your build. I'm large busted, a bra was a necessity for me, so I wore my strapless bra so that I could get the best feel for how my dress will work with proper support.

Also, I want to add, I was asked by my consultant at DB if I needed a strapless bra to use for trying on dresses.

For trying on, I wore a strapless. For my fitting, I took my bra off and will get cups sewed in.

I hate strapless bars, I might just use a sticky bra to try on so I don't have to worry about it falling every other min

Every salon I've been to had a selection of bras to use if you needed one. I always brought my own just in case.

Some shops will offer a strapless bra or bra/corset combo. But not all do! I didn't take one with me. So shops that didn't offer one I just tried on some dresses without. Even if they did have one for me to use, some of the dresses were sheer and meant to have cups sewn in, the one I chose will have cups sewn in.

Depending on the size of your girls, depends on whether a bra is absolutely necessary or not.

I wore my own strapless. Some shops have one you can wear to try on others don't. Also wear or bring shape wear if needed. I wish I did when I tried on my dress. I bought the sample because it fitted me perfectly! No alterations needed whatsoever! I just need a bustier.

I wore a convertible strapless nude bra and brought the straps with me. I also wore a pair of boyshort Spanx and I am so glad I did. Some of those dresses were tight and would have showed every bump without them!

No, some bridal shops will provide one to try on with the dresses. Or you can try them on bra-less or with your regular bra with the straps tucked in

I wore my own strapless nude bra and high-waisted, knee-length Spanx. A stranger is going to be helping you get dressed, so you might want to opt for underpinnings with more coverage.

I wore a strapless, more important to me then what I took with to my appointment was that the consultant gave me a shaper slip and corset to try on with the dress...that made a HUGE difference from my fist appointment where they left me fend for myself. If they don't offer to have u try undergarments ask!!!

The stores we went to all provided a strapless bra for try-ons. And I recommend using it. You won't know what underwear you need until you choose the dress. For example, if it has cups, you may not need a bra at all. If it has straps or sleeves, a regular bra may do. If it's backless, you'll either need to have cups sewn in or use a special bra that won't show.

I went in my strapless bustier just for my own comfort. I didn't want to be getting in and out of dresses in front of a strange person with my boobs hanging out lol

Bring a strapless just in case, but some shops have something specific for certain types of dresses. It never hurts to be prepared!

I went to every dress fitting without the intention of wearing any sort of bra. They tried to make me at David's bridal but all it did was make feel suffocated lol so i took it off. All dresses I tried on had cups so I was fine and I won't wear anything on my wedding day either

For my first trip I took a strapless, a corset, and a normal white bra. I started with the corset but quickly realized most of the styles I was trying on looked gorgeous bra-less. (Im about a B or C cup depending on store.) I actually didn't even notice a very pretty see through lace side of the dress because my corset made it look not see through. The past two shops I've been to they have let me get into the gown alone and then zipped it up when I was covered so modesty luckily hasn't been an issue so far. I would take a few things but if you are looking at pretty lace backs or open backs bra-less looks best. They can always sew cups on whichever dress you decide.

I wore a bra when I shopped for my dress because I had to have help getting into dresses and I would feel so bad if the salesperson had to deal with me topless.

For my first fitting, I said I don't want a bra because bras are horrible and I want to be comfortable. She said a lot of dresses don't have good support though, and since dresses can be heavy they can yank things around.

Make sure you keep in mind what you could do for support with the dress you pick.
