Dress Shopping-Signs?

Kelsey, on March 18, 2016 at 11:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I am going dress shopping for the first time next week. I am driving up to MA from VA with my maid and matron. Dress shopping is super important to my mom so I havent looked at all yet because i know she would be sad if I went without her. In total, I will have 5 people with me next week, all pretty opinionated women. I know there is potential for it to get overwhelming for me (but i also have a strong personality and have no issue telling everyone to shut it). Today my matron told me she bought a template for little signs that say "say yes to that dress!" on one side and "next!" on the other. I think theyre cute, but will consultants think theyre obnoxious? Ideally, the signs would help regulate everyone talking over each other, but mostly I just think its a cute idea. what do y'all think? Im also nervous bc I feel pressure to find a dress while with my mom

The salon I went to had those available for us already! we didnt use them due to the fact that my bridal party would vote too quickly before I had a chance to say I loved the dress. Or they would love a dress I was showing as a joke. So I made them put them away

If YOU like the idea then use them! It doesn't matter what someone else thinks. Buying a wedding gown is a once in a lifetime experience! Don't let other people ruin it for you!!

I think they sound cute and I would think they would be less obnoxious than everyone trying to talk over each other to state there opinions. I would just try and relax and have fun with it. Finding my dress with my mom was very important to me too so I get the pressure of wanting to find it when your shopping with her.

One piece of advice I can give is to keep an open mind. Most brides I know went dress shopping with a specific vision and ended up falling in love with something completely different. I think it is important to try on all types of styles because you never know how your body will look in it until its on.

    Have Fun!!

Unless you are on TV on SYTTD, I wouldn't use them. They seem a bit obnoxious to me. But , if you like the idea and are OK with it, then go for it!

I'd be worried about people making quick decisions without waiting to see what YOU thought of the dress. If you're not the type of person to second-guess yourself though, it's a cute idea!

Why would you worry what they think? This is about you finding your dress and if this helps you then go for it! Good Luck and hopefully you find the one!

I actually like the idea of them because everyone can hold up their sign before talking, and I can get a general idea of how they feel about the dress, then I can ask for opinions if I want. I am very picky about clothing, and I don't expect wedding dresses to be an exception. I will probably know whether I love the dress or hate it before I step out of the fitting room and see everyone's opinions.

@Brittany, that was my first thought....will this look obnoxious to others? I'm not on Say Yes to the Dress or something! But it makes me feel better that other people like/have done it. I think we'll go for it.

While some might think it's looks obnoxious, I think it would be preferable to having 5 woman all talking loudly over each other. Besides, if you want to do it then just go for it. People who work at bridal stores (and retail in general) are used to putting up with much more ridiculous crap. Where in MA are you going? I'm also in the MA/NH area and haven't quite found my dress yet.

@Rebecca I'm originally from the Cape, so I'm staying on Cape close to my parents. Day 1 we're going up to the north shore to Vows in Watertown and BHLDN in Chestnut Hill, then down to Fall River to go to Party Dress Express, and that's close to my FMIL's so it will make kind of a circle haha.

If we need a second day, we'll stay on Cape

I totally made some and everyone loved them, including the salons. No shame. Lol the other side they were navy blue with a big fat NO. Smiley smile

I think they don't stand in for opinions but they were fun for initial reactions and also fun for deciding when it was the one.
