Dress Shopping in California (covid-19)

Amanda, on May 9, 2020 at 3:30 PM Posted in California Planning 0 9

Bay Area, CA bride here! We're still on pretty strict shelter-in-place orders and very few stores are allowed to re-open starting this week with curbside pick-up only. Nail & hair salons, gyms, etc. are all closed indefinitely. Bridal shops haven't been mentioned (obviously very specific) but I'm starting to lose hope that they'll open any time soon.

I'm selfishly really sad I might not get the "experience" I've always dreamed of but trying to be positive/see the silver lining. Curious if any other CA brides know of shops that are open now (or will be soon)?

Thanks! xx

Hi! Bay area bride here too. Some are open in June, and already accepting appointments. Better book now.

I went to my 1st alteration appointment last May 1st.
The only thing is, as of for now, they only allow one person at a time, so you can’t take anyone with you.

Thanks, Belle. Can I ask which stores you booked at? BHLDN, for example, still says they’re closed but maybe will open in June like you said.

I picked up mine last April. Elegant Lace will re-open June 1st. And El Caprice is accepting one on one alteration appointment now.

With your wedding over a year away, you have plenty of time to still have that experience! While waiting, however, you can always browse different designers online to get an idea of what you like!

Thanks, Natalie. 🙂 I know I have some time but figured the shops are going to be SLAMMED and production, alterations etc. are probably also going to be longer turn times so trying to be conservative and account for that as well. Crossing my fingers between June-August I’ll be able to do some shopping!

Trudy's in Campbell is opening in June. And I think Janene's in Alameda will be open too but I'm not sure.

I’m with you! The norm used to be buying 9 to 10 months before the wedding, but I’m also hoping to buy mine before July at the latest even when my wedding is set to be in June next year
A shop in Santa Rosa day they might be opening next month.
