Dress shopping experience!

Hannah , on June 20, 2019 at 3:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Happy almost Friday! I wanna hear everyone’s dress shopping experience. Was it a good or bad time? What did you like or did not like? Would you change anything?

For me, I actually really loved my entire experience. I had no idea how much fun it would. I went to 2 places, 1 you picked out yourself and the other the consultant brought you suggestions. If I could go back I think I would’ve tried more dresses on and not have gotten it 16 months in advance lol

I loved it. I wish I had tried on more though. I found one I liked early and bought it and looking back should have gone more places.

I personally love trying on clothes too. So finding a dress was fun experience to me. I think it's also good to be open minded about different styles.

I loved my experience! It took 5 dresses and less than 45 minutes to find my perfect dress. I don't recommend going to look at any after you think you've found the dress, it will just confuse you.

Listen to the consultant, have a solidified budget, and know it's okay to love more than one dress! I almost went with a different one, and actually didn't love part of my dress after I bought it. Thankfully, I am now fully in love with it and can't wait to marry my best friend in 49 days!

It went better than I anticipated it would. I'm a plus-sized bride and I worried about having to settle for a dress that I didn't love because it came in my size. David's Bridal had a great selection of dresses in my size. My consultant made me feel like a beautiful bride-to-be, and the manager there was wonderful. I didn't feel pressured or rushed, and I felt like I was the only bride there she was helping, but I wasn't. I would recommend that location to anyone who asked

I loved my experience becasue the shop I went to was so great and accomodating. They let me and the people that came with me pick out options as well as they picked some for me but as PP have said I wish I went to more places. Don't get me wrong I love my dress but it was only the 3rd dress I tried at the first shop I went to. So I don't feel like I really got the shopping experience since we only went to one shop. I tried on about 7 dresses total before trying on the one again and saying yes to the dress!

Mine was great. I went two separate times with my mom only. The first time I went to two salons, it was tiring. We should have planned lunch in between for sure. I was happy I tried on as many styles as possible, and took tons of pictures.

I really enjoyed my experience! My mom and I went to 2 boutiques (both were by appointment). At the first appointment, the last dress I tried on was the one I ultimately ended up falling absolutely in love with! I went to the second appointment and told them I found this dress and to try to top it, which didn't happen. So I went back to the first boutique and got my dress!!

It was really nice that it was just my mom and I because I was able to focus on what I liked and not hear multiple opposing opinions.

ALSO, my consultant at the first appointment is now my day-of planner (we hit it off instantly and she stated how she does day-of and I booked her right then and there)

I had a great experience. I went with my sister, mother, sister's MIL, my niece, and my daughter (we were all visiting my sister for Christmas as she lives in GA and we're from MA). We went to David's Bridal near where she lives on a Wednesday morning. It was a nice, quiet little shop and my consultant was super sweet and helpful.

I did a lot of dress research before going and pretty much knew exactly what I wanted. We went to the section of dresses in my size and she grabbed a few and let us pick some too. They happened to have the exact dress I really wanted to try. It was the first one I put on and fell instantly in love with it! I did try on the others we picked out just to be sure but I put the first one back on and that's what I purchased. I have absolutely no regrets and had no desire to look at anything else! 🥰

I had an ok experience, immediately followed by a great experience. The first place I went to only had the owner working that day, so she had to step away a few times to help other customers. She also kind of talked down to me and kept putting me in dresses that weren't what I wanted. I told her I thought I wanted an A-line dress, or at least something that was fitted from the top to my waist, and then bigger or flowy starting there. She brought me three mermaid styles in a row, despite me saying that I didn't like it being tight across my thighs on the first dress. The second shop we went to was far nicer - they had two other girls trying on dresses, but I had a consultant dedicated to me, and others that would stop by and offer suggestions or help clamp dresses. This consultant also grabbed a bunch of dresses for me instead of just having me wander the store, and recommended trying the first one, then the second, and if I didn't like one as much as the other, to remove it from the stack for consideration. I ended up liking the second and I think the 4th a lot, and everything else I tried on, looked at it, and said "I don't like it as much as the other two". It's a really simple concept, but it really helped narrow the field.

I didn't have the best experience the first time I went. My friend and I (both engaged) made an appointment and didn't tell anyone we were going. We just wanted no pressure and to figure out what we liked. She ended up only trying on 1 dress because she just wasn't feeling it that day. I tried on like 8 and it was exhausting and I was STARVING and the consultant kept making me try on dresses that I really didn't like. She INSISTED I try on a ball gown even though I am not that girly and I did NOT want a big puffy dress.

The next time I went I had a much better experience. I took my mom and my MOH and we went to a different bridal shop. The ladies had me browse and pick out a bunch of dresses that I liked. I tried a few on with the help of the consultant and after 3-4 she said ok I have 2 dresses that I want you to try. We through trial and error a few times with me saying a stuff that I liked and didn't about each dress. Probably the 3rd round, she said she found one that she thought I was really going to like and we put it on and I loved it. My MOH pretty much cried and my mom really liked it. She brought out a veil, I teared up, and we went to lunch to think about it. Called my Poppy (grandpa) and he said just buy it! So I bought the dress and the veil that day and I don't regret it at all.
