Dress shopping during that time of the month

Fmv, on October 11, 2019 at 10:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
Im sure this is major TMI, but im going dress shopping tomorrow to hopefully find my dress.
Looking at my calendar im assuming i will be getting a visit from aunt flow tonight or tomorrow. Has anyone dress shopped while going through this? Should i be wearing a small pair of under shorts? I want to feel comfortable, and also dont want the consultant to feel akward.
Help!

I wasn't on my period when I dress shopped, but it wouldn't have phased me if I was. Do you generally leak when you're on your period? I don't see how the consultant would have any clue that it was that time of the month, therefore couldn't feel awkward about it.

I was on my period when I dress shopped. It wasn't bad. I just wore like pair of regular nude underwear then changed my tampon right before going to into the store. No one knew I had it, so no one felt awkward.

I don't understand how your consultant would know, and even if so, you're not the first person to go dress shopping on their period. I would just go about the appointment as usual. Maybe drink extra water to avoid bloating as much as possible.

I had my period the one time I went dress shopping. I normally get really bad cramps and feel nauseous, but everyone is different. I took medicine that helps with the cramping before I went shopping. I also just worn underwear that were comfortable. I also made she to put a new tampon in right before I left the house to go shopping to prevent any leaking.

Well not to be gross, but i usually wear winged pads. So if i wore regular underwear, the consultant would definitely see the wings. That was my only thought. I was just trying to figure if its easier to wear like boyshorts over underwear or just attempt to wear a tampon

I’m going shopping today and I have my period. I’m kinda glad too. It will show me what I will look like in the dress in case of bloating. I know I’m strange that way.

Are you planning to wear shapewear? If so, that would cover it. Even if not, the consultant isn't going to be examining you and there's really no reason that your legs won't be together throughout your appointment..I think you're overthinking this one.

I got surprised by my period during my dress shopping appt. I was so excited and distracted that I didn’t notice and I was wearing shape wear so everything was contained. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw I bled all over my nude spanx. This should get rid of any fears you have. If I could bleed through with no protection and not even notice, you’ll be fine. I was just happy I didn’t sit or get anything on any dresses! Plus, it’s 2019 and women should be understanding. Periods happen!

She won't notice even if it's "visible".. At my first appointment at David's she pulled all dresses over my head so he face was never in the area and she had no reason to look down.. my second appointment the consultant left me in the room to step into the gowns and came up to the door to fasten the dress once I was ready (i preferred this was as the space is so small!)

I ended up getting my period during my first dress shopping day. i was more bloated than usual but it didn't stop me! i recommend wearing spanx regardless if you're on your period or not. it just makes everything nice and smooth and easier

I don't remember if I was- because it wouldn't have phased me. If you normally wear pads then I would probably put some shapewear on top.
I won't even care if I have my period on my wedding day. Maybe that makes me an oddball but it's just not something that bothers me.... ha ha.

I'd wear some shapewear over your underwear, or otherwise boyshorts over them. But I wouldn't sweat it too much otherwise, plenty of people go dress shopping on their period!

My consultant never saw me naked. She waited until I had stepped into the gown then came in to zip or lace up. If you're more comfortable boy shorts would be totally fine.

This also happened to me with my nude underwear. I had no idea that I was having breakthrough bleeding while on the pill (but of course my breakthrough bleeding was not dainty at all!) My consultant didn't notice either and it was only on my underwear, not on my clothes or any of the dresses I tried on. I've always found other women to be super empathetic to other women on their period, cause most of us have them!

Hope it worked out for you without feeling awkward. When I went I was on my period. No one was the wiser and I just wore some spanx.

I feel this way as well. I would rather have it the wedding as opposed to the honeymoon lol.
