Dress shopping during Coronavirus outbreak.

Taylor, on March 18, 2020 at 12:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
I’m getting married next March and I’ve been putting wedding dress shopping off due to family reasons. I have 2 appointments (which I’m close to cancelling) this weekend with a pretty small entourage and one appointment is only allowing 1 person (totally understandable) but neither place is closing down. If I did wait would it mess with the time frame of getting the dress Since it’s coming from china? I don’t know much about the process of getting a dress shipped or anything like that :/ Please, no rude comments!!

Depending on the designer of the dress, it takes 4-6 months for a dress to come in upon ordering (during normal circumstances). Alterations take a couple of months. In my case, my alterations will need to be completed in August in order for me to take my bridal portraits for my October wedding. SO I'll need to begin the alteration process in July. This would put me at ordering my dress in January (10 months before the wedding) at the latest (I actually ordered mine at the end of September). I couldn't tell you how backed up production is and we have no idea how long this will all last. Personally, I'd go and see if you can find something. With everyone's weddings being cancelled, I foresee all vendors (dress producers, seamstress, etc) being backed up once this is all over. Don't be pressured to buy something you don't love but it wouldn't be a terrible idea to narrow down the style of dress you want.

I just wanted to comment that if going to David's Bridal they sent out an email this morning that they are closing there stores for walk-ins and appointments right now. I'm not sure if that's where you are going. But the email said they would in contact with those who have appointments.

This was so helpful, thank you!! I’m just going to tell them if they aren’t comfortable coming due to the circumstances that they don’t have to attend and there will be absolutely no hard feelings because their health comes first!

They’re small boutiques, thank you though! I hope everyone who has an appointment read their email!
