DRESS REPEAT?

Erica, on September 23, 2015 at 2:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Because we are getting married in my home state (VA) and we live in PA, we are having two showers to accommodate guests in each area. Including these and the rehearsal/dinner, these are three occasions for white dresses! OOPS! Can I wear the same dress more than once? Not that I don't want an excuse to shop, I just don't see the economy in buying 3 dresses! White (ivory, etc). seems hard to wear again for special occasions.... thoughts?

I totally would not side eye someone for repeating a dress but for myself I would buy different ones. Because there will be pictures I wouldn't want to be wearing the same dress at each occasion. And I use any excuse I can get to shop Smiley winking

I'm planning on wearing my shower dress for my RD. I think it's fine.

I have a dress that I bought for the bridal shower and plan on wearing again for the rehearsal dinner and probably going to pack it along for the wedding after party (just in case I want to change into something a little less poufy). It wasn't cheap but I love it and I really don't care if people side eye me for it.

I'm wearing other color dresses to these; you don't have to wear white.

@Allysia, thanks! #lol I will keep that in mind.

@WolfWedding2016, you clearly have never met my mother! I will be wearing white at ALL wedding events - she doesn't want anyone mistaking that she raised a "good" girl! Serious. No questioning. This was true of all my sisters. I will not be an exception. Besides, I don't wear white often so I don't mind! Smiley smile

Ah. I'm wearing a white dress but I know there is no way I would want a white cocktail dress etc. I've never met someone who felt like that about the shower dresses lol.

Girl, go for it. The people who are coming to these events are people who love, support, and would not judge you. You're totally right about it not being good economically.

Personally, I don't think you have to wear white. If you want to, go for it, but it's hardly a requirement. In my experience more brides don't wear white to the pre-wedding events than do (at least around here) and often other guests *do* wear white. If you want to wear white and want to repeat outfits, do it. If you want to wear other colors, do that. They are your events and you should wear whatever you feel good in. Heck, I wore the same outfit to my bachelorette party and my RD: my favorite jeans and a white tank top that said BRIDE.

Wear the same dress if you want. If your friends and family would judge you for that, you need new friends and to distance yourself from your family!

If I had more than just a rehearsal dinner I would have worn the same dress to all of those events.

I used the same dress for my two different showers that were a week apart, but with different attendees. I'm using a different rehearsal dress just because I don't want to wear a bright white sundress during an October night in Ohio.

Can you accessorize it differently for each event? Statement necklaces? A belt? Purely for the picture issue Smiley winking

That's a lot of white!!! :-). Sounds like Mom is running the shots here (aren't they all!). Have you looked at options from Rent the Runway? They've been a go-to so far for me and I'm renting this frock as a dance dress for our wedding post ceremony.
