Dress Regret 😩

Virginia, on July 2, 2019 at 4:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I put myself on a tight budget of $500 (it’s a 2nd wedding and trying not to go crazy). I found a dress at DB well under budget and bought it. Now.....I hate it. I feel like in order to look and feel how i want to look on my wedding day, I’m gonna need to forget this dress and up my budget. I’ve considered maybe taking the lace off the bodice and leaving it plain silk or satin and adding an illusion sleeve or just start over and get the dress I really want. Thoughts? What would u do to this dress?

I think it is a really pretty dress. What don’t you like about it?

I actually really like this dress. I love lace. I think what i would would alter the top to make it a sweetheart neckline. I think it looks really good on you too!

I think it looks really good on you! I agree maybe you can change it to a sweetheard neckline. Or add some kind of sleeves.

    Something like this.

Ohh I'm a lace fan! Its beautiful. I dont hate that belt at all, but maybe try some different ones..maybe a satin one with a small flower or stick to a blingy belt but maybe a bit thinner or scalloped? Honestly what you have on now is amazing 😊 no need for dress regret imo.

It’s just missing that WOW for me. I’m not excited to wear it which is actually quite depressing.

Maybe try it on again with a veil and accessories and see how you feel. I’ve also seen people add sleeves, maybe talk to a seamstress before you decide to ditch it and buy another. I totally understand dress regret, I too had it and then just had to remember why I fell in love with it.

I actually work at DB and I personally love this dress. I think it’s really underrated, the sequin in the lace is just beautiful. And I love the little beads everywhere. I agree with Cassie, go back to DB and try it on with some veils and try some different belts. They also have sleeves they can add on through the alterations department. Even if you don’t love the sleeves they have to offer at least you can get the idea and go through another seamstress. Don’t give up! Go back to your DB and tell them your situation. They will help you.

It's pretty! But if you want to change it, I would: 1. Change the neckline to sweetheart 2. Add some 'fluff' to the bottom and 3. Change the belt. Although, depending on how much you paid UK m for the dress, you might have better luck just finding a new one for cheap.

I think your dress is gorgeous. However that being said, if you’re not in love with it as “the one”, keep looking. You deserve your dream dress.

If you don’t like it anymore then sell it and start over. By the time you make all those alterations, it will cost you more (when you can simply find a different dress that you prefer).

I was where you are. I got so tired of looking for dresses in my price range that I ended up getting a dress from DB. Then after seeing pictures, I didn’t love it. I battled with myself and finally took the dress back and used the store credit for other things I would need including my flower girl dress, her head piece and mine. I then went to a boutique and found a lovely dress that I am excited to wear. I say this because it’s your day. It’s not about how others feel about your dress dear, it’s about you feeling absolutely beautiful and amazing in your dress. You are human so if you have changed your mind about the dress that is fine. Return it and go get the dress you fall in love with. You owe it to yourself. I hope this helps.
