Dress Regret

Maybe you could accessorize it in a way to get your love for it again. The idea that came up at the moment was a Gypsy chain belt. I hope this evokes a good image. Did you have a necklace and bracelets in mind too? Some brides have also considered a cape, Or if you added lace straight down the back of the train. I think it will work out nicely.

Have you considered getting a “topper”? It’s kind of like a sheer sleeved layer to put on top of dress. It could be cool to wear during ceremony and then remove for the reception! Here are some ideas of toppers:

My dress look similar to yours and I had the same dress regret, thinking it needed "more." But I think it's just because we're used to seeing dresses on ads, Instagram, etc., filled with lace and tulle. It may be plain in the front (like mine) but the back is ridiculously pretty!! This dress looks amazing on you!! Bottom line, I keep telling myself, "less is more" and I felt better.

Same! I also went with satin. My big issue is I was breast feeding when I said yes. I just got my dress back from alterations and it’s awful. But I don’t have time to get something else

View Quoted Comment Jillian, your dress is lovely! If you must though, consider wearing shorter heels if you are wearing them in the second pic. I think your dress would look a bit more flowy like the first pic if it touches the ground a little, just make sure you can still walk in it. Also, are you wearing a petticoat in the second pic? Or did they add lots more tulle/crinoline underneath? If you enjoy the less structured fabric of the first pic, you need to get rid of some of the poofiness that is under the skirt.

If so, given the time crunch, I would ask that the dress store pay for an overskirt or let you use one if they cut off too much, or consider paying for it out of pocket if they won’t. It’ll have to be pretty poofy to make it work over the top of your original dress skirt, especially with the long train. It’s really all that I can think of in the short amount of time… Something like this could help?

One or two pieces won’t hold it up, but 10 will! You should be able to get fashion tape delivered to your door by the weekend. I would test it out first with a few pieces to see how it works out, and bring extras for the day if it needs reinforcement after dancing. I did this for a friends wedding recently as she was worried about her boobs falling out. Now I always bring fashion tape to weddings - you never know who’ll need it!
