So I have a dilemma and would like to know what you would do?

Dress 1 (first photos): I tried this dress on 2 occasions, and both times became emotional because could imagine myself down the aisle. The only dress I got the feels! It was also significantly reduced as it was a sample, however did experience some pressure from the saleslady the second time about it going at any moment. Unfortunately this was a shop that didn't allow me to take photos. As soon as I said "yes" I was allowed to take photos, but sadly didn't love it! I told the saleslady and she kept saying we could correct the things I didn't like (particularly make it more figure hugging)... It was my own fault at that point I felt obliged to carry on, but I paid for it. I didn't regret it at the time, but just felt disappointed photos didn't reflect what I felt Smiley sad

Dress 2: Tried this on 3 times in the shop. I knew it looked great, but never got the feels. Looking at the photos though I think it looks a lot more 'wow' than the first dress. I think FH, guests would love it in person, and I'd love my figure in the photos.I am going to visit both shops again asap. I am considering losing my deposit for dress one/buying it and re-selling it later.

What would you do? Do you agree dress no 2? I keep hearing with alterations and hair and make up dress 1 will look great, but can't seem to get over how striking dress 2 is in photos just yet?
Comments / advice really appreciated

Honestly, if dress 1 gave you the feels, then that's the dress you should have. Remember that professional photos are going to be better that phone photos - and when it's properly altered and you're all done up, if will look perfect

Gotta go with your gut but to be candid - I like dress#1 on you a lot better based on these pictures.

I don't see what you are seeing. I think dress one is very beautiful and photographs extremely well. I think it will look even better in photos that are taken by a professional.

I think both dresses look great on you! And to be honest, dress #2 and dress #2 look ALMOST identical.

My vote would be to keep your original dress and not lose deposits/money.

There are sooo many factors that could have affected these photos, including the lighting in the shops and the angles you were able to get. I would definitely trust how you felt about the dresses in person and then trust your wedding photographer to capture you at your best the day of. If you’re really having doubts, it’s okay to go back and try them on again just to make sure, but I wouldn’t base my decision off the pics. (FWIW, I did this same thing with my wedding band! Loved one in store, got home and decided another one was better based on the pictures, went back to try them on and was like duh I liked the first one for a reason haha).

Ope, gonna break out my Shop vs. Day-of dress photos again.

It's pretty common to have a dress on in the store, absolutely love it and know it's the one, then look at your pictures and think "oh no, I've made a mistake". The dress in the shop isn't altered to you yet. The picture is going to pick up how it's pulled weird here, and loose fitting there, and how it's so long that you look frumpy in it. The pictures aren't capturing how you *felt* in the dress. As mentioned above, day of will have a better fit with better cameras, better lighting, and better angles.
For example: my dress when I first chose it and knew it was the one (and promptly started panicking when I got home that I made a terrible mistake), the dress when it came in in my size but still needed alterations (and I felt slightly better, but I still felt so frumpy in it thanks to frizzy August hair and poor length), and my wedding day where everything came perfectly into place and I felt and looked exactly how I imagined when I first tried on my dress in the shop and knew it was the one.

That's a very helpful description of your various impressions about your dress.

The first dress is more white vs off-white for the second dress, and the lighting is very different. I would not base your decision off of photos that took place in a bridal shop. If the first one gave you the feels, it's probably because it's a better shade of white for you. Otherwise the dresses are extremely similar and both look amazing!

I would for sure stick to your guns about how you felt vs how pictures taken afterwards look. It doesn't look like the first dress is clipped whereas the second one is, so the second one is going to look like it fits better. I had a ton of anxiety about my dress because it needed some serious alterations before I could wear it (the straps were so long I literally wouldn't have been able to wear the dress in public), but once the alterations made it actually fit right, it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. The lighting in the store and the alterations place I took my dress to were also a bit off, so my dress almost looked yellow-y, but once I got my dress back and could see it in natural light, it cleared up those worries too. All that to say that if there's one dress that is screaming "THE ONE!" I'd stick to that Smiley smile

The way you’re going to feel wedding day is definitely the most important. Go with what felt right and what you feel photographs better. Like others have said, the lighting is not the most favorable in the shop and your photographer is a professional that will know how to best photograph you day of
