Dress Regret.....bridesmaids Edition *short Rant*

I have decided that I do not care for satin in general, as I feel like it usually looks cheap. This is mainly in reference to high sheen polyester satin; I do think softer sheen silk satin can look lovely in the right application.

Having said that, both of my high school prom dresses (early 2000s) were satin and my reception dress was silk satin. It's definitely on trend and super popular right now!

I think adding the right accessories and shoes can help elevate a satin slip dress (which is what I imagine when you say elevated nightgown) into a more daytime or evening wear appropriate look. Any chance you can share a photo of what you picked out?

Yea, I'm not even sure what was going through my head. It seemed fine at the time and honestly, I wasn't even going for satin to start. That's just how it ended up turning out. This what they each chose but it's in a silver/platinum color.

I honestly think those are really pretty! The different necklines really make them look like evening gowns and not just lingerie. The cowl neckline is probably the closest to bordering on nightgown, but that's such a classic silhouette for that material that I don't think it will be an issue.

Additionally if all the dresses are fitted well, they will look more like dresses than nightgowns. If they were a looser unstructured fit, more like a slip dress, they would start to get into lingerie territory, but with the tailored, shaped silhouette I don't think they come across as nightgown-y at all.

I'm sorry you are feeling meh about them, but I do think they will look really pretty when the girls get them and have them tailored. Hopefully you will feel more excited about them then!

I also think it helps that they are floor length (vs midi length). Midi length, unstructured loose fit, and spaghetti straps always feels more nightgown to me.

Thanks. It's just hard. I feel like I'm freaking out over nothing. It's just really getting to me that it's like right around the corner and all these extra small things (although they feel huge) still needs to get done. It's just making me rethink some things. I hate it.

True. I've seen other stories on here. I just hate that the feeling is towards their dresses.

I saw satin dresses in a Facebook add or something and I thought the looked stunning!
