Dress regret and second thoughts

Oh, my dear fellow brides. Let me know if you’re with me and ESPECIALLY let me know if you had this feeling and then overcame it! I purchased my dress at a discount bridal shop. Oh, my dear fellow brides. Let me know if you’re with me and ESPECIALLY let me know if you had this feeling and then overcame it! I purchased my dress at a discount bridal shop. The longer I wore it the more I liked it, and eventually loved it- but I didn’t have an over the top emotional reaction (which I was fine with because sometimes not everything works out that way). It has just about everything I want AND I got it at an incredible price.

The problem is...now that it’s home with me and I look at it up close, small details bother me. The tulle has a mesh look to it, and I wish the lace stood out more. I was engaged before and absolutely loved that dress, but I gained weight and refuse to suffer and try to fit into it again. I love the contrast of the old and wish the new had it.
So now I’m wondering if I settled. My mind is whirling with possible alterations like changing the satin underlay. I don’t know it that’s even possible or what it would cost.
My current dress is first, my old dress is second. cfb_1392261.jpg

I'm in the same boat, second guessing all of my decisions including venue haha! I think it's perfectly normal and am trying not to get too hung up on it. It's a huge commitment, one day that costs so much money and is supposed to be once in a lifetime. There's a lot of internal pressure to make it perfect. Trust yourself and your intuition (and your budget!). I know once our wedding days pass we will look back and remember all of the beautiful moments and think that every choice we made was the absolute perfect one because it was such a fun and memorable day! I'm so glad my story was able to help someone else Smiley heart .

The new dress is beautiful. I think as a Bride we are under a lot of stress (especially us who are getting married during these crazy times) and we tend to over think about things and change our minds several times. Dont worry you are not alone, I went through the same thing with my dress but after I calmed down my nerves and looked in the mirror again I felt amazing and went with it. Best wishes!! And congrats!

I actually prefer your new dress. I’m a sucker for off the shoulder sleeves and I think the lace stands out just enough to be pretty but not overpowering. And it looks amazing on you Smiley smile

Honestly I love them both! I had a similar situation lol I ordered all white and now I'm gettjng the same dress just with ivory and champagne overlay under. Little things. You have to be happy and be able to dance and feel amazing.
I think we want the day to be perfect to the last little detail. Breathe and step away from the dress for a little bit. I love both of them and your current dress is so pretty!!! Go rock it

Both are beautiful! But I had the same feeling with the first dress I purchased after I got engaged. I felt like I rushed into getting the dress. I kept looking online at other dresses after I purchased it and had regret. I ended up returning the dress. My thought process was if I really loved my first dress, I wouldn’t have found myself still looking on Pinterest and David’s bridal and comparing everything to the dress I bought. After returning it, I had to make another appt and spent a good 2+ hours until I knew I found the one. I haven’t looked at other dresses since I made my final decision . I feel so much better about my dress and I’m no longer thinking of things to do to change it to make it the perfect dress because my second dress meets all of my expectations and exceeds them. Moral of my story: if you are thinking of ways to hang your dress, it isn’t the dress for you. Also, I’m a seamstress that alters wedding dresses and depending on where you go, alterations can end up costing more than the dress itself. I hope this helps! 💙

I’m going to be 100% real with you. Your current dress is so stunning 😭😭 I love that neckline, the sleeves and lace and silhouette are so elegant, and everything about it compliments you so well. I think the lace contrasts beautifully.
I second guess parts of my dress too when I look back at pictures sometimes, but I try to remember that moment when I was actually in the dress and how wonderful that made me feel. I think it’s totally normal to have doubts about literally every aspect of the wedding process. It’s like a rite of passage lol.

But, that said, this is your day and you deserve to feel 100% confident. Once things open back up, maybe go visit your dress and try it on (if it isn’t with you already?). If you are still noticing things you want to change, your alterations person should be able to work with you on those things 😊 and hey, maybe when you go to visit it and you see how you look and how it makes you glow, maybe you’ll see that it was just a little anxiety after all! Just be kind to yourself and know that there are options! Best of luck❤️

I actually like your current dress better! I had a weird experience....I bought my dress under strange circumstances and in a hurry. I tried on so many, and some of the ones in my size were just too snug in the hip area. I also had to buy off-rack. Sometimes I do get dress envy, but my dress is super beautiful and I have no regrets.

Thank you so much 💜 the dress is currently with me, hanging in my closet. Honestly I love most all of my dress, I think it’s just hard for me to see a final product you know? I do think I’ll feel better after talking to alterations.
