Dress question(s)

I already know I'm going to get grief for this but it is what it is. I've been indecisive about my dress, but I selected a style & length that I love.

I've always been a plus size gal (weight started coming on in 6th grade). In exactly 2 months I'm having weight loss surgery (I'm looking forward to this chapter). I have tried so many ways to lose weight, they worked for a couple of months but then stopped.

My dress (pictured) is a style that I love and am really hoping that I will love how it looks on me 3 or 4 months before the wedding. I selected a size that I should be at, if I get smaller it can be brought in. But if I don't get to that size it can be let out a little too.
If I don't like how it looks, should I replace it with one that does look good? I love the tea length swing dress style and love ball gown. I will have loose skin, that I'm going to want to hide.
I'm looking for suggestions not criticism. I normally am not this indecisive but I'm stressing out a bit. Wedding is June 2023.Dress question(s) 1

Hey Lynne. I’d definitely say after your surgery go to the bridal shop that has the dress and try it on to see how it looks on you. I’m sure they’ll have other styles as well if it turns out you don’t like the way this one looks. I believe you will have enough time between your surgery and your wedding to make a dress decision. I’ll definitely be looking out for an update. Hope your surgery goes well!

My suggestion for you would be to wait until January 2023 to try on dresses at David’s Bridal. Once you decide on a dress, order it on their website, not with one of their consultants. They usually ship within a few days or a few weeks.

You should have enough time to get it altered. Since your body will be changing, you’d want to get alterations as close to June as possible. A seamstress might need 1-3 months to get the alterations done.

It’s ok to be indecisive! Good luck and have fun with looking at wedding dresses Smiley smile

    Bird,

that is useful information about online orders with David's Bridal. I wondered it that worked faster for deliveries. It would seem so since it is only after delivery that you can try the gown on and make a final decision.

Good luck on your surgery hope it goes well & you have a speedy recovery! I suggest waiting until after you’ve healed to try on the dress because I’ve heard it sometimes takes a little extra time to actually get to the size you intended to be at. If you don’t like how that one looks then you get to try on others! Which is the fun part ☺️ I went in thinking I wanted a specific dress, tried it on & instantly changed my mind. It’s okay to be indecisive choose what you love most!! Happy planning 💕

Thank you. My niece is going with me in February. That way, I've healed, swelling has gone and I should be down quite a bit. I'm definitely keeping a lace-up back in mind though.

Yes! When I went to my davids bridal appointment to try on gowns with a consultant in 2019, the return policy was very strict, whereas if I bought it online instead of through a consultant I would have loads of time to return if needed. I ended up returning mine and then buying it again when it went on sale and then I returned it and bought it again in a different size because my seamstress was having trouble with the bust hahaha

The trouble with the fancy bridal salons is I don’t think there is much room for returns at all!
