Dress prices

Nicole, on February 29, 2020 at 4:30 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
Okay, so some background info:

My fiance and I are both openly communicating about everything and are having a non-traditional ceremony. I know I want my dress to be black with gold accents and I found one I like, but my fiance has made it clear that I have a price I am not allowed to go below when buying a dress which is $50 more than what the dress costs. We are on a tight budget and he wants me to splurge a little on the dress, should I wait a while and then start looking again, in that price range or should I just spend the lower cost?

What? That makes no sense, if you’ve found a dress you like, buy it. Spend the extra $50 on accessories or alterations.

If you like it buy it. Then move on with whatever else you have to do unless you feel you can find something better???

So the thing is the dress was only $100 and I have a while to go before I absolutely need it, so finding something better is a possibility.

1.) It’s ridiculous not to buy a dress you love because you want to find something more expensive.
2.) Why is that your FH’s decision in the first place? This sounds super controlling.

Why wait! Go for it. If you don't end up liking it, hopefully it can be returned. Spend the extra $50 on something fun for the wedding or alterations.

As one who is a major bargain shopper here are a few of my suggestions:
Search online - EVERYWHERE ONLINE - google it....
if you look at dresses and compare pictures you’ll find that all these dresses come from the same place and some just come with a “fancy high priced label” if that doesn’t matter to you you here it is.
Amazon - tons of dresses and many priced right (includes many of the major store brands for less) Wish - who knew? (Found major bridal store dresses for $60 including shipping, some even less)Udress - never heard of before before but found the dress I was looking for, for a significantly lower price LulusHeboes Cocosmelody JJshouseThese are just a few of the sites I found and compared to my local bridal shops.

If you love it buy it! You can use the extra money somewhere else. You cannot guarantee you will find a more expensive dress that you love. Go with you gut.

So I just want to add that I am not wearing a white dress, he wants me to feel like royalty and he is paying for it, he isn't being controlling with me. I am going to wait because I am not going to have my wedding for a few years. We are working on budgeting and planning right now so we can make sure to save up enough for it.

Agree with everyone else. That makes no sense. You found something you love and can afford, why would you have to find something else simply because it doesn’t cost enough?? That’s nonsensical

I understand the budget thing. There are some people who really have a hard time splurging on themselves - and feeling like they don't deserve more than the bare minimum - I think he's trying to encourage her to treat herself. I'd say mention it to him and see what he thinks. I'm not sure this is controlling in a bad way - I still need reminders like this from my FH. If it's the dress - just tell him that. If you aren't sure then shop till your heart is content. Smiley heart
