I have an absolutely beautiful wedding dress that I love. I also have a problem.

I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I've posted about this before, but it's an autoimmune condition that causes unsightly, bleeding boils on my chest, stomach and upper arms. It's treatable, but not fully manageable. Some people here suggested clean eating to deal with it. I've been doing that. But some medication I'm taking for an unrelated condition (DVT) is really kicking it out of control. I tried on my dress today, and the tightness of the top made two boils burst. There's blood and pus on my dress.

And I'm so scared it will be like this on my wedding day. Visible blood stains on my white gown, my beautiful tulle caplet, in all my pictures. A sore opening up mid-party and starting to bleed in front of everyone. I can't manage this.

Have you tried the tumeric paste ? I also get these horrible boils under my arms i just read yesterday if you create a turmeric paste( hot water mixed with the tumeric which is a seasoning and can be find in any grocery store) apply that to the infected areas and leave it on for 30-40 min daily that's supposed to clear it up. Im also trying this process right now as we speak.

    Hope this helps !

As someone who also suffers from this awful disease please let me first say I know EXACTLY what your going through first hand. I was going to get married this year in November but had the worse outbreak ever in January 2017. I was literally out of work for several weeks. Couldn't walk or stand straight for months either because of the pain. I also started a new job a week before the outbreak!. Thankfully, my company was super understanding. I'm sitting at my desk now still feeling the pain of the wounds under my breast and arms that have not healed and continue to ooze pus/blood daily. It is the most diabolical thing I have ever had to endure. Plus, I am the ONLY person I know that suffers from it! Please accept my hand and allow me to walk with you symbolically through this as a fellow survivor. No one understands our pain and utter embarrassment. Though I'm sure you appreciate the empathy. It touches me to see so many beautiful women rush to give you advice. You ladies truly do ROCK!

I was just able to wear a bra two weeks ago, sat on my bed and cried tears of joy. My 44DDD's have been hanging low for many months. Thank You Lord! Something as simple as that. It hurt like hell but I got through and now it doesn't hurt as much.

I have been to several wound specialist, doctors galore. I live in the DC area where they have an actual HS clinic at Georgetown University Hospital. I went and met a wonderful Wound Nurse who was kind enough to come with me to my dress fitting and bandage me up so I could try on dresses without all of the pressure and pain. She will also be there for me on my wedding day to bandage as well as keep a "Watchful Eye" on my situation. Miss Donna is a Godsend. I went with a blush colored, strapless dress that looks amazing on my chocolate skin even though I thought I'd only look good in white. I got cups sewn into my dress as well as a extra soft lining that's made out of cotton. Similar to a high end T-Shirt. It's also super absorbent. I too have the boils on my upper arms inside as well as my actual pits. One I've had since Nov. 2015 that bleeds every single day and refuses to heal. She will use a clear bandage. I believe it's called tegaderm, that will be virtually unnoticeable unless it begins to bleed a lot. At which time she will take care of "My Situation". Other little tricks I do as far as the ones under my breast is panty liners on the inside of my bra at the band level. It's been helpful in providing some cushion so nothing is too tight or constricting on the open wounds. I'm at a stage 3. I'm on a crazy high dose of Humira but it seems to be working. I still have outbreaks but they aren't as bad as they were before.

This is a terrible disease and most doctors have zero knowledge. Even if they say they do they are usually lying. I went to my gyn yesterday for a routine visit and I warned her about not doing to much of a breast exam. She blew me off until she lifted my breast and said OH SHIT!!! I was kinda offended and laughed it off. I went to my car after and cried about it. Made me feel like a freak. She was doing the exam without gloves and I told her she may want to put them on. She didn't listen. But the minute she saw the wound she cursed, jumped back and told the nurse to pass her the gloves. SMH. I'm venting wayyy too much @Del. I'm sorry. I just want you to know your not alone. Because I often feel so alone in this.

I hope my long ass soliloquy brought you some comfort. Rock that white Dress Beauty! It's what you have your heart set on. You have a ton of great creative suggestions here from the other brides. You'll be settling if you don't. Hopefully, you can find someone who can be your Miss Donna on your big day! Sending you a BIG HUG! Keep Your Head Up Queen!!!

Just want to comment so this bumps so @del can see your comment @king. I think she will definitely find some comfort knowing she is not alone and there is another bride who knows exactly what she is going through and struggling with.

    Hi guys,

I genuinely have tears in my eyes. I am SO touched that so many of you offered sincere help here.

To the medical professionals who gave suggestions - I can't thank you enough. You've given me a lot to go on, and I'm already investigating.

And to the fellow sufferers - I'm so grateful to you for speaking up!!! I've never met anyone who has this before, and it took me a long time to start talking about it myself. Even though it has nothing to do with hygiene, it just makes you feel dirty and gross. And very few people understand how intense the pain can be during flare-ups. I'm not the praying kind, but you'll all be in my thoughts and please know how much your words mean.

And also, just the people who came to offer support. Thanks and hugs guys - I needed that!

I think I've worked out a semi-solution. Hot compresses and turmeric paste combined with my pills up until the wedding, then special bandaging the day of. My brother's wife (who I have never been close to but who is being really amazing about this - we might be making a real friendship now) offered a possible back-up dress. It's a deep, dark red lace with sheer panels in the skirt (no problems with boils on my legs) that will hide a multitude of things. She's going to bring it to the wedding and if I need it for the reception then I'll change after the ceremony. If I don't, then we'll just lock it in the bridal suite.

Also, big thanks to those who reminded me how awesome my FH is. I had pretty much given up on intimacy after my flare-ups got bad, but then I met him and just couldn't pass him by! He's never been anything but supportive as I deal with this, but over time I guess we come to take that support for granted. But you're right. He's an amazing person, so boils or not I am extremely lucky!

Love and hugs, folks. You're the best damn group of brides, grooms, vendors, husbands, wives, fiances, spouses and assorted trolls that I've ever had the honor of being part of!

So sorry. I'm sure worrying about this makes it worse. Have you thought about a shrug in one of your wedding colors, lined in a soft cotton and maybe some sort of thin quilt batting to cushion and absorb?

Yes, TEGADERM!!! I cannot believe I forgot to add Tegaderm, when I was talking about the OpSite, it will probably be even better than the Opsite!! You can find both of them on Amazon! Good Luck to You all with this condition!!!!

Im sorry you are going through this! As pp mentioned perhaps there is a way to bandage the areas so that you dont bleed through on the dress. I have eczema that usually appears at the worst times fingers crossed that the stress of the wedding doesnt cause my eczema to spiral out of control. I found that clean eating does help, in january I started eating clean and exercising and my eczema has been suppressed. I think food is the culprit of most topical conditions, last week I had severe hives from an allergic reaction to something and had to take prednisone to manage it.
