Dress order from the same dye lot with multi state bridal party

Todd n Ula, on August 28, 2008 at 5:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I was told that the bride maids dresses should be ordered at the same time / place to ensure that they all come from the same bolt / dye lot so there isn't a variation in the fabric. Well, I have a one in LA, one in Denver and one here in Houston, so how do they pay for their dress but get it ordered from the same bolt / dye lot?

They will be fine don't worry they can either call your shop or order their dresses from a local bridal shop the dresses will look as pretty as the next one so don't worry

I dont know where your getting your dresses from but I have the same situation becasue I have a BM in MN so I choose to go Davids Bridal because you can find them pretty much everywhere and when I spoke with them they told me that she just needs to go in to order her dress either on the same day or within a weeks time of all of them here in IL and give them my name and they will pretty much take it from there to insure that are all out of the same dye lot.

All of my bridesmaids ordered from David's Bridal in various locations. We did have one scary moment when we thought one of the girls had the wrong colored dress delivered but it turned out fine. As long as it's coming from the same store your bridesmaids should be okay. Just make sure they order them from the same store and in enough time to have alterations done should they need them.

I originally was going to go with davids bridal....and they told me that there is no need to worry about dye lots anymore....that all the dresses are the same. So i wouldnt stress over that.

if you do want them all to be ordered from the same place, a lot of shops will tell you to have your girls get their measurements taken somewhere and possibly try on the dress and then get the info to the one store where everyone is purchasing. that is the case for my girls....plus bc i bought my dress at the shop they get 15% off

I had 8 girls in 8 different states and they all ordered theirs at different times and there was no difference in the color. I think as long as you are ordering the same color from the same designer they should be ok.

Hello, If you order the dresses from a designer brand, such as After Six, Dessy, Bill Levkoff, Raylia Designs, Mori Lee and more... there is a slight chances that the dresses will vary in dye lot. It is rare, however it can happen. The variation can also be in the bead detail.

In addition, some gown have fabric and length options, that could result in incorrect orders. My sister was in a wedding and the dress was available in chiffon or satin. One out of town bridesmaid ordered her incorrectly in chiffon.

Having one company order the dresses ensures that they are all the same.

All maids should order from the same store and the order should be placed for all at the same time so there are no dye lot issues. Any reputable bridal salon will take measurements for free and any store should also be able to take credit cards over the phone or should accept checks from out of state.

I have owned a bridal store for several years and have handled several bridal parties with members in other locations.

    Good luck!

Hi Todd n Ula, I would have the Maid/Matron of Honor get everyone's money and measurements, at least 6 months before the wedding, and order all at the same time. Have her handle the shoes and anything else that needs to match too(Groomsmens ties/hankie). We love our friends, but some are procrastinators. This way you make sure its all handled because dye lots do vary from bolt to bolt. Just fyi, I custom make bridesmaid dresses and groomsmens accessories so let me know if you need anything 323.896.0279 Paula www.customclothingbusiness.com
