Dress Opinions

Alright, so I’m a little torn on what I want to do. Full disclosure the pictures do not do the dress any favors, and it still needs to be fit to my body. Also, I looked real rough in the photos, so I cropped my face out 😂😂

However, I have always loved buttons on the train of dresses, and I bought the dress with the intentions of adding buttons all the way down the train. Part of me wants to keep it the way it is, the other part of me wants to add the buttons. What does everyone think? Thanks in advance!

You're dress is gorgeous especially with the topper and sleeves. I prefer it without the buttons going all the way down the dress. I think I've only ever seen buttons going all the way to the bottom of the train on satin dresses though.

I agree it's a gorgeous dress, and even before alterations it looks fabulous on you. I also agree with pp, that I think buttons usually look/work better on heavier fabrics, like satin. The softness of the chiffon skirt is a beautiful compliment to the more ornate bodice and I'd be concerned the buttons would be more of a distraction than an enhancement. You are going to be a gorgeous bride! Smiley heart

Agree with the others! Buttons down the train are usually seen on satin dresses. I don't think it would go as well with your soft skirt. You look lovely!

I think your dress is lovely, however, if that's your dream dress with buttons all the way down, then follow your dream.

It's obviously bothering you enough, to nudge at your thought process, so there must be a reason.

Consult a seamstress for her opinion. Smiley smile
    Its a win-win either way!
    Beautiful!

I'm in the minority here as I think buttons would make the perfect touch. It is such a beautiful dress all on it's own though, so either way, there is no wrong. Do what you Invision to be the best!

Your dress is gorgeous! I love it the way it is, but I would get a seamstress opinion about the buttons if that's still something you want! It sounds as if you're a little torn because buttons were your original dream, but I think it's okay to change your mind; there is nothing wrong with that! The things I would keep in mind to ask your seamstress aboutvwith buttons, if you choose to go that route, are if they will weigh down the soft chiffon of your skirt (you don't want them tugging on the fabric in a weird way) and if you will be able to feel them when you sit down.

Keep it as is! I agree that buttons work better with heavier fabrics, too.

I wanted to do the same to mine with buttons all the way down! But with the material I have, I decided against it. I didn't want to mess up the dress

Both versions are beautiful but the top with the sleeves make it more elegant than without. You can't go wrong with either!

You can’t go wrong either way, it’s a beautiful gown!! One of my daughters had buttons and I loved them. But it would have been just as beautiful without them.

I agree that you dress is very beautiful and either way you decide will be right and fine!

Have you thought of pinning ten or so buttons onto the satin under the layers of sheer to see how that looks? It's a more subtle approach yet gets you those buttons! ;o)

The second dress is gorgeous. I have seen buttons look amazing, but never on that fabric. I think buttons would detract from the beauty and flow of the skirt.

I like it how it is! I do love the sleeves, maybe if you add the top part with the sleeves, you can add the buttons the back of that?

I absolutely love your dress. I wouldn't change a thing, but it's not my wedding. Good Luck!

This is beautiful I love the added sleeves! I say add buttons! I have buttons on mine(not all the way down) and I love it. Just be mindful if you do a bustle the buttons can get a little in the way. attached is a picture of a dress I tried on that had buttons all the way down and I think its beautiful (this not my dress) . 2nd picture is teh back of my actual dress with and without bustle.
