Dress of your dreams

Sweet'N'Rhodes, on January 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I will readily admit that my dress is what I said I wouldn't have.

I said I wouldn't wear white as I'm not that traditional. It is white, though I can get it in another colour, but I'm not sure I want that now.

I didn't want something strapless as I have an ample chest, and I was worried about feeling secure. But I suspect this is the perfect opportunity to get a corset.

I didn't want a mermaid style, as I felt it wasn't modest enough for me. Yep, you guessed it, it's a mermaid dress. Smiley xd

Now I want to know about your wedding dress. Does your dress match what you imagined it would look like? Or is it everything you said it wouldn't be?

Pffft I started this journey saying I didn't want anything too form fitting. I bought a ballgown, mostly because my mom and my sister cried and thought it was beautiful. I thought it was the best I could do, and it's a beautiful dress. But as we get closer, I've come to realize that I've lost 30 pounds - a good amount off of my frame- and a) the dress I had was way too big b) I felt like I was hiding behind my ballgown. So I went back and exchanged it! My new mermaid is fitted and yet looks amazing- I was shocked that this was the same sample I tried on the first time I went in.

Congrats on your dress!!! I'm sure its gorgeous.

The first dress I bought, I regretted almost immediately. The dress was very pretty (and it had pockets) but I knew it wasn't what I pictured myself in. It made me feel really matronly and while I wasn't necessarily looking for something "sexy", I didn't like that I felt like I was wearing a mom dress.

The second dress I bought is definitely a lot more of what I pictured myself in. It's very flowy (I've always wanted a tulle skirt) and detailed with lace, plus it even shows a bit of cleavage which I didn't know I was comfortable doing until I saw how it looked with this dress! All in all, I'm happy with the dress I have and can't wait to wear it in less than two months Smiley smile

I always pictured myself in a long sleeved a line dress with a lot of lace. I also planned to wear my sisters gorgeous cathedral veil as something borrowed. Not at all what I got! I picked a sheath dress with capped sleeves. The top has nude fabric in it and some lace. I’m not wearing a veil at all, and instead I’m wearing a gorgeous cape!! Which are both posted on my profile lol. Definitely not what I expected at all and for a while I was kinda upset that I didn’t get my dream dress, but now I’m totally obsessed with what I got and cannot wait to wear it!

Not at all hahaha. I said I wanted lace, either thin shoulder straps or off the shoulder straps, and either slim fit or mermaid.

    Ended up with non-lace, A-line, strapless 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

I can relate. I had my eyes on a beautiful tulle ballgown that was blush colored. I tried it on and automatically knew it wasn't for me, and my whole party agreed. The second dress I tried on... my dress!... is a white sheath gown with no train. It's completely different from what I thought I wanted but I do love it, and my whole group loved it too!

I thought I was going to have soft A-line with long sleeves and covered back but ended up loving a ball gown with spaghetti straps and open back. Both looked great but I went with the dress that was more fun and gave me the “feels”
