Dress is different - help!!

Brenna, on January 3, 2020 at 11:33 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hey! Can anybody help me figure out why the top of my dress looks so different so I can try to fix / explain to my seamstress. My wedding is in one week! Here’s my ‘Said yes’ picture and then a picture from yesterday.

Obviously I’ve done a lot to it - different color, added sleeves, but my main issue is how the bust looks. I liked it MUCH better when it laid flat and now it looks very big and busty. I am the same size if not a bit smaller. Any help appreciated!! Dress is different - help!! 1

Maybe the sleeves made the top a bit looser on you? Do you feel a bit loose at the bust?

Not really! Doesn’t feel loose it’s just like there’s too much fabric or something

So did you have her fix the bus and add sleeves to the Dress? What did you ask your seamstress to do exactly just to take it in or something?

So she added the sleeves and brought the bust “up” a bit to make it more modest and less low cut. I’m just not sure how that equals this big of a difference in the way the bust looks.

Okay I get it. I would tell her that she took the bus up way too much and now that the neckline is not exactly the same as the original picture. Do you think they will be able to rectify within a week? I really hope so because I want you to have the dress that you want for the big day.

I think if you get the modesty panel removed - it won’t look as busty. When you add sleeves, especially flutter sleeves, it makes your eyes focus more on the top of the dress. Could you have her remove the modesty panel, but still feel comfortable in it?

What if i have her add some lave where it is just mesh in the middle of the “V” - if it was all flush do you think that would help? I’m not sure about taking the modesty panel out - i felt it was too low cut before and wedding is next Sat!

That could help. I’d have her pin some lace on the mesh & see what it looks like before having her add it on.

I'm not seeing a huge difference in the before and after. But I will say that I LOVE the "after" dress!! It's so beautiful on you!! You took a beautiful dress and made it absolutely gorgeous! I hope you can get the changes you want, but I think it's really stunning, as is!

I think fitting it to your figure accentuates your bust. With the sides pulled in and properly fitted tight to you, the transition between your bust and your ribs and waist isn't as gradual as before you had it fitted. When the dress was less fitted and looser around your middle it draped a little more which had the effect of flattening out the appearance of your bust a bit. Does that make sense?

I wonder if part of it might be the color difference? With the lighter color underneath your chest area becomes more like one large solid color where the darker color with lighter lace it looks less solid and more distinct.
