Dress emergency

Nicole, on March 31, 2021 at 6:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I purchased my dress almost 2 years ago and due to postponement it has been hanging in a closet at my mother's house since last July. Last night I tried on my dress for the first time in in almost a year and I am swimming in it! I'm now terrified about what this means for alterations. On top of all of that, I'm no longer certain I love the dress. My wedding is only 52 days away!! What do I do?

Take it to the seamstress and see if it's even fixable. I would also order a few online to try on and get ones that don't need a lot of work. This is a pretty tight timeline for alterations

I have an appointment with a seamstress on Saturday. When I had rescheduled my alterations in early February she told me she only really needed 4 weeks. I did tell her at the time that I was losing weight however when I started my weight loss my concern was that the dress would be too small because I had put on a few covid pounds. I never expected to put the dress on and discover it was now 2 sizes too big.

It will work out! If the dress is no longer usable, you can totally find a beautiful new dress in time

Go for alterations! I was in the same predicament. Once I put it on at the seamstress and she pinned it I loved it all over again. Since your wedding is in 52 days you’ll have to buy off the rack and it will be a tight squeeze for those alterations..

Oh no! I had a similar problem, I lost too much weight and the seamstress said it could be altered but it would cost $$$ a lot. So I decided to get a new dress rush ordered and it will get here just in time! Hopefully your seamstress will work some magic for you!!
