Dress Dilemma

Carisa, on November 8, 2020 at 4:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Help! I’m running into a dilemma. I bought my dress 2 years before my previous wedding date 10/3/20. My new wedding date is 6/26/20. My dress has long sleeves and I don’t know why but I’m not content with it anymore. I’m contemplating changing it. I don’t know why but I’m not as happy and in “loved” with it like how I was when I bought it and during my fittings. :/ is this normal?????has anyone changed there dress after purchasing it?

I've seen many brides on here change their dresses, especially Covid brides. Can you get it altered to something you will like? Or are you thinking about buying a complete new dress!

I had a ballgown dress I liked, but didn't love. I was planning on wearing it then a month before my wedding I went with my mom to look for a dress to wear to my after party. I ended up calling inove with a dress there so I had the original dress shortened and I wore it to my after party and the one I loved for the ceremony and reception. I'm guessing you mean your new date is 6/26/21 rather than 6/26/20 as that date has already passed. One reason I'm guessing you don't like it anymore is because it is long sleeves and you are having a summer wedding. I would talk to your seamstress. I am also guessing you don't like it asuch because you bought it a long time ago and you've probably looked online at least at other dresses.

Well that’s a relief! I originally had it change to long sleeve it was off the shoulder. N to change again ehh. I guess as the years evolved and looking at other dresses didn’t help!

Yes I meant 2021. Thanks! And yes looking online at other dress is part of why I’m second guessing. 😫

Unfortunately, that happens when you buy a dress so early. I would recommend talking to your seamstress to see what can be done. In the dressI loved, I had a layer of sparkles added in order to make it look exactly like I wanted.

It's not uncommon, especially with COVID brides.

Yeah that's why most recommend not to keep looking for a dress after you purchase yours lol

I’ve changed my dress as many times as I’ve had to move my wedding dress 😂. And you know what, I look at the pics of dress 1 and think, I see why I liked it but, that wasn’t me. I look at dress two and think, really? Dress 3 is everything I wanted. However, I had not done alterations yet and I got mine at David’s Bridal where exchanging was a breeze. Had I already done alterations I probably would have settled and let it be. So it depends on what your specific situation is. If you have the financial ability to get another dress, I say do what makes you feel beautiful 😍

Haha. Thank you so much for this. Definitely makes me feel better if I go that route!
