Dress Dilemma!

Futuremrsn, on July 7, 2020 at 3:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
Hello everyone!
Recently I purchased a two piece black dress for my October wedding. It was purchased from Etsy, I gave the woman the right measurements, and I loveee the dress but the tulle skirt is a bit tight on my waist (as in only one snap closes and not the second). It came from Ukraine so I don’t think I’d have time to send it back, have her fix it, and then hope and pray it fits when it returns. I suppose my options are to either buckle down and work out everyday so it will fit (hopefully if I’m strict with diet and exercise), or maybe take it to a tailor in my area? This is my second dress for my wedding (I will be changing out of my ivory dress from the ceremony) so it wouldn’t be a total loss if I couldn’t wear it, but it would then have been a waste of money. What would you do if you found yourself in this position?

I think having someone move the snaps on the black grosgrain ribbon would be an easy fix

I would absolutely take it to a tailor and have them fix it so it fits you properly. Since it’s just the waist without other alterations, maybe wait until you’re closer to a month or so out so it can fit the body you have in October. I definitely want to see you rock that gorgeous dress at your reception!

Definitely check out a tailor or alterations person locally. It might be an easy fix that won’t take too long and boom, done. Cheaper and less risky than sending your dress back to Ukraine with shipping and hoping for return on time.

Very pretty dress! I agree with everyone else, a tailor should be able to easily fix the issue in time. The total cost of a local tailor would almost definitely be cheaper than shipping costs, and like a previous comment said, less risky.

You’re absolutely right, I think I’m going to take it to a tailor a month before to see what can be done. Thank you! I’m so excited to wear it Smiley smile

I would take it to a local seamstress. It sounds like a fairly easy and inexpensive fix.

It's beautiful, I would definitely have it altered, especially since you have the time to do so.

Second vote for tailor. It will make you feel better to have it fit now. If you do lose weight then it can be taken back in but this way you can eat ice cream and not feel as guilty. .
