Dress Cost

Doxie Mom, on October 12, 2020 at 5:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 18

Hey Ladies! II cannot fathom spending $1,000 on a wedding dress, even $500 seems like a lot, has anyone found a beautiful dress for $400 or less, maybe even $300? Or am I being unrealistic? Please attach pics if you have, thanks Smiley smile

Azazie has wonderful options for under that price point!

also another point would be to look for gowns that are just evening gowns or even a bridesmaid dress in white - if you look for anything bridal or wedding, the price gets super jacked up. my dress was less than $30 and looked really bridal. but it was just an evening gown in white.

It depends on the level of quality and intricacy you're looking for. For $300/$400 you will be looking at something from Azazie, cocomelody/Lulu's, maybe a used David's Bridal. Some boutiques may have off the rack samples as well. If you go up to $600/$700, you will have a wide array of pre-owned designer dresses (Mori Lee, Casablanca, Stella York etc.)

My wedding dress was $250 because it was a sample dress that had been discontinued. I had a layer of glittery tulle added and alterations done.

Check on Poshmark for used dresses! Some of those are fairly cheap, and many still have tags on them. Azazie is also a good option. Are there any secondhand dress shops near you? Those may have cheaper pricing as well.

Hey! I totally understand. My dress is actually less than $100. Lulus has a great selection and budget friendly prices. You can also look at bridesmaid dresses in white as well to find a less expensive dress too!

Sample dresses could be a good place to start looking. Mine was $500 down from $1400 - and because it had an illusion neckline (not very popular) it had barely been tried on.

I bought a second hand dress for $850, original price $4500. Check out stillwhite.com so many bargains to be had, and no need to compromise on what you want.

My dress for our minimony was only 400 at David's bridal! Keep in mind that alterations will cost a bit too. Go check off the rack! Bridal salons will often have deeply discounted sample sales as well, and you can look at resale sites like Poshmark, StillWhite, PreownedWeddingDress. Good luck girl! The right dress is out there.

Call bridal shops and ask if/when they have discontinued sales. The shop I worked at sold dresses at 75% off for $300-$1K.

I bought my reception dress for less than $200 at a bridal shop! Loved it. Before I altered it:Dress Cost 6

Thank you, Marisa! I then had it altered into a 50/60’s style—shortened time tea length and a top made out of the extra fabric. The final:

Look at white dresses that aren't sold as "wedding dresses". Mine was $300 + $100 of alterations but was not a "wedding dress"

Seconding the suggestions for formal white dresses that aren't necessarily "bridal" - my dress was $300 + alterations and was technically a prom dress that I found online! I'd like to think most people would never be able to tell the difference.. Smiley smile

I don’t have a picture of myself in it because it wasn’t the one i chose, but David’s Bridal has some beautiful dresses that look more expensive for pretty cheap. This was one that I loved that’s only $400. I’d be too nervous to go on some of the more affordable online shops, I personally need to try stuff on especially for such an important day!!Dress Cost 11Dress Cost 12
