Dress confusion

Taylor, on July 9, 2019 at 8:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I've tried on maybe 15 dresses now. I'll find a dress I really like and then a bit later decide that I don't think I want it to be my dress. I haven't felt that like MOMENT yet, you know. There's a shop by my apartment that I REALLY like but I'm worried about how often I go there and try on dresses. How do you KNOW it's the one, and is it okay to keep going back to the same place?

I knew my dress was the one because it made me feel beautiful, and every time I tried on another dress I just wanted to get back into it!

I am not a dress person... I live in a pony/bun, jeans, and a t-shirt from one of the billion charity hockey tournaments I've played in. I never had "that moment" I chose my dress because after 3 salons and probably 30 dresses over 2 days it was the dress I compared all other dresses to, before and after, that I tried on. It's not really what I had pictured for myself but I promised myself that I would try on a little of everything (especially since I don't normally wear dresses). My mom and MOH held their tears until I went to change, but its the only one that elicited that response from either. I had reserved myself to not having that moment before I even started shopping so I wasn't terribly disappointed when my choice was more what I considered logical than emotional. I still get sad sometimes (now 8 months later) that I didn't get that moment but I also know that's just not who I am.

I tried on 20 in 2 days and liked a lot but also was getting a feel for what style I liked. The experience at the store also had a big impact for me on getting my dress. The following week after everything had settled I knew what kind of dress I wanted. When I put on my dress I liked the style, every dress after that made me want to put the first one back on. I put it on again and fell in love, it was so comfortable. When I first tried on the 20 I figured out what I did and didn’t like and made a list to help me find the perfect dress! The place I got my dress from was super friendly, upon entering they congratulated me on my engagement. The store was emasculate, my bridal consultant was so friendly. Lastly, they gave us mimosas and cookies during the appointment. That positive experience made me decide to get my dress there! I tried some dresses on at Kleinfeld showroom but definitely did not feel any positive, exciting energy. It was all about the experience along with how I felt in the dress for me.

I didn't cry or get emotional when I found my dress - it's more normal than you think, girl! Try not to pressure yourself into finding "the one". Continue to take your time until you find something you can envision walking down the aisle in! Wishing you the best of luck finding your dream dress Smiley heart

Oh my goodness, you went to Kleinfeld's? That is so cool! Sorry you didn't have a positive experience though, but I'm fangirling because of SYTTD!

I didn't get emotional during my hunt. I set my budget and had a certain look I wanted to go for and my dress checked all those boxes for me. Even up until the wedding I was looking at different alternatives and worried my husband wouldn't love it.
It's pretty normal I think to not get that feeling and feeling restless about it.

Went to a Kleinfeld's pop-up shop with my friends.

Had them throw dresses on me and basically played dress-up until one started to cry. And then it cascaded around to all of us, and so that was the dress.

As others said, it really is about which dress you don't want to take off, or the dress you keep wanting to put on.

It doesn't have to be a big moment, just the one you *want* to wear.

Hahaha, there are 2 stores Kleinfeld’s owns, the main store that you see on the show and the other store is a small showroom across the street that you wouldn’t even see. There they have sample dresses that you can buy as is. I tried on a dress originally $8,000 on sale for $999 that I almost wanted to get but it was stringy, the beading was coming off, etc. The first pic I took in front of Kleinfeld for fun and the second was in the dressing room of the showroom. My mom and sister made the signs - so creative!

I'm not a super emotional person, so I just went through dresses comparing them to each other and keeping the one or two I liked most. I narrowed 15+ down to 2, and then to one, and although it wasn't a teary "oh my gosh this is THE ONE", it was a "I just really like this one, and it's comfortable and I think it looks really good and I want to keep wearing it". I'd say keep trying, and make sure to take photos so you can look at yourself in the dresses later. Good luck!

I honestly think I found something online! But the thing about it is I went to the only salon in my town that potentially has it and the last time I went there, the owner was so incredibly rude.

Oh no! That is so disappointing! Have you gotten the chance to try on the dress?
