Dress buying scam?

Hey all, this is probably going to sound kind of odd. So I bought my first wedding dress but found another and I’m trying to sell the first one just to get rid of it. I’ve slashed the price significantly even though it’s new with tags. Anywho, I’ve posted it on multiple sites (FB market, preownedweddingdresses, eBay, Craigslist).

The responses I’ve gotten back seem really sketchy. They’ve only been from eBay and craigslist. It seems like the buyers don’t speak English very well and are using a fake name but that may be presumptuous of me. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just being crazy?

I have experienced that from Craigslist when selling items. Have you tried posting it on Stillwhite.com? I purchased my dress there and it was a pleasant experience. Best wishes on you big day!

Try selling on Stillwhite. I’ve never bought or sold from there, but I’ve seen it. It is specifically for wedding dresses, it is a legit site, and is managed. So you shouldn’t have any issues.

Yeah Craigslist is full of scammers. Avoid anyone who mentions cashiers checks. They will insist you take down the add to ad so that they dont reach out to you again by accident. Cash only and you are ok.

Of course! I used Preownedweddingdress and the classifieds section of Weddingbee to sell my former wedding dress(dress regret) and the first few people were men who didn’t want to use Paypal and wanted to conduct business through email only. I made my rules far more strict and eventually found a nice buyer.

Edit your listing to include a set of rules, it will scare off a lot of them. Ignore the rest.
