Dress Blues

My fiancé is in the army and he doesn't want to wear his uniform because he says it's hot and uncomfortable. My question is does he have to wear it? I know a lot of men and women in the military wear their uniforms in their wedding but is it required?

Wouldn't he know if it was required or not? I definitely don't think it is but he would be the one to ask.

No, not required. Army policy dictates that there are some circumstances where uniform is more appropriate than civilian attire but that is typically only when a majority of those attending will be in uniform, but even then still not mandatory.

Nope. I know a lot service men and women who don't wear their dress uniform for their weddings.

Not required. My FH and his grooms party are all Navy Chiefs and they told me they'd rather die than wear their uniforms. Plus, you can't be a drunk fool in uniform, so the reception would be no fun for them.

No, it's not required. My husband wore his ASUs but it's not mandatory.

Nope, not required. They have to wear those uniforms anytime something important happens at work (and sometimes just on random days) so I don't blame them for wanting to wear something different!

No my FH is in the army too. I don't want him to wear it because then I'll just be reminded that he is leaving me again for a whole freaking year.

My FH is a staff sgt in the Army. He is choosing not to wear his dress uniform. I was conflicted, as the military and his service is incredibly important to us both. Originally I wanted him to wear his dress uniform for our ceremony and a suit matching the groomsmen for the reception... but he really didn't want to wear it so I let it go.

We compromised. For our engagement photos, He switched into his camo for a few. We are also having the national anthem played at our reception. Smiley smile
