Dress beading yellowing..

I bought my dress about a year and a half ago because we had intended to get married Jan 2021, but COVID changed that so we postponed to Jan 2022. I recently went for my first fitting and noticed the beading on it was more cream colored/yellow than bright white like when I bought it…


I really didn’t think a year of non-preservation would make much of a difference but apparently it has, and now I’m worried it won’t look the way it should on my wedding day 😭
Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you fix it? My wedding is only about a month and a half away now and I’m concerned having it dry cleaned right before won’t be enough

    If I’m reading this correctly, only the beading is yellowing, not the fabric of the dress? If that is the case, a cleaner is not going to be able to remove the color from the beads. If only the beads are turning colors, it is likely due to yellowing of the adhesive that was used to attach the beads to the dress.

    This is how it looked when I bought it. I don’t have photos of the yellowing because it’s currently being altered

    I’d take it to be cleaned ASAP! I’m also getting married in January and Mines being altered and cleaned now! Good luck and congrats!

    I agree with PP's see about getting it cleaned and maybe speak with your alterations team about changing out some of the yellowed beads for white ones. When you take the dress home, make sure it is in a garment bag away from any light to ensure furthering yellowing/ageing does not occur.
