Dress anxiety

Kaitlin, on July 25, 2019 at 4:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
So I found my dress back in March at a local dress shop in my hometown. I am a bit worried at the moment because it is discontinued so I had to buy it as is. It's about four times my size (it's an 8 and I'm between a 0 and 2) so it needs a lot of alterations and some fixing up with beading and some seams due to being tried on so many times. Also I am only 5'0 so I'm hoping it can get hemmed to make me look like a real bride. I always thought I'd want a Cinderella look but every poofy dress I tried on just made me feel like a little girl. My anxiety has been through the roof hoping we can get it to fit properly and have everything corrected within this next year. Hoping someone has had a similar experience with a great end result that will calm my nerves😅 I could use any positive words to ease my anxiety!

Most gowns can be altered a size or two depending on the style and work that needs to be done. Hemming the gown shouldn't be a challenge. I'm 5'8" and was concerned that I would need to buy a gown with extra length and have it hemmed so my shoes wouldn't show. Luckily, I found a gown in a style where this is a non issue and I don't need any alterations at all. It's a corset style and lacing can be adjusted easily. There's about 2 inches between sizes if it helps, and based on your pics, it looks like most of the alterations are needed around the hip area and the work that needs to be done looks doable based on the shape of your dress versus the poofyness of a ballgown.

It's beautiful. I would start looking for an experienced seamstress soon if I were you. They would be the best ones to tell you how the alterations will work out for that type of situation and it will calm your anxiety to know for sure Smiley smile
