Has anyone had a lace dress with lots of detail taken in more than two sizes and it still look fine?

This could be possible - but it will all depend on the structure of the dress itself! Have you taken it to an alterations place for a quote?

Agreed. Take it to a seamstress for a quote. Mine said that regardless of fabric, taking in or letting out more than two sizes is essentially redesigning the gown. That might mean lace could be even trickier.
