Dress alterations

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to get your dress back? I had my first fitting 6 weeks ago. The first fitting she pinned everything and told me to come back in 5 weeks for the second fitting. So I did just that. However nothing was done in those 5 weeks. She re-pinned everything and just said that lace is a “tricky material and she didn’t want to make a mistake”. Ummm ok, I can appreciate that, but why have you had my dress for 5 weeks and done nothing to it. I made my appointment for my third fitting and she said over the phone it won’t be done then, but to come in so she can “make sure of things”. By that time I’ll only have two weeks before my wedding. Should I start panicking or is this normal? I will loose my sh** if I go with only two weeks left and she still hasn’t done anything to the dress, because I won’t have time to get another dress at that point.

She sounds a little sketchy. If she can't guarantee you now that she can have it done two weeks before the wedding, I would find another seamstress. I don't understand why she waited five weeks to do anything to the dress to begin with.

That’s exactly what I felt. I’ll go next week when my schedule is and if it’s not done I’m asking for a refund and I’ll have to look into other options. I can’t be stressed about my dress so close to the wedding. I have way too much to worry about as it is.

Oh my.. not to panic you, but I would likely go get my dress and find someone else. After my initial appt, the seamstress requested 4 weeks.. from there every adjustment she has asked for a week and a half to two weeks..

I just got fitted yesterday and was quoted 2 weeks. This is without paying any rush fees. I did notice a lot of people in her reviews said she was VERY quick and that was one of the reasons I went to her shop (my wedding is in 4 weeks). For me, the tailoring process is very nerve racking. Even thinking about someone cutting, CUTTING, into my gown makes me cringe. So for me, I would go get my dress ASAP and find another tailor. But if you are more chill than I am, just keep on her. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Call her 3 times a week asking for updates.
